For those of you who were able to stay up and watch Terry unveil his new Lovik figure "Berry Fabulous" on "Lopez Tonight", what did you think about his character. Flamboyant comes to my mind.

Reminds me a LOT of Pete Michaels "Milo" character.

Similar Flame. I heard he was to be a hip-hop Liberace. To correct myself, his name is "Barry Fabulous". Terry's wife Taylor, looked stunning as usual. I would say Lucky Man, but Terry has worked very hard over the years to get where he is.

Here's a link to the clip:

Incidentally, I have noticed that Terry's figures are always at a higher elevation than he. The tops of my puppets' heads are at my eye level. With Terry, it's the opposite. I'm curious how you all have the relative heights of you and your figures.

Bob, I was just going to mention the height. His figures are the stars of his show, Terry often takes a back seat.

As famous and successful Terry is; I can’t complain about his routine, it is perfect.

I am a little bothered by the way he had the second figure, Barry come out, just carried out.
Nothing wrong with it, it just bothers ME alone.

I am working on a different way to introduce Dan in my routine.

This Barry Fabulous figure was made for Terry by Keith Lovik.

Buzz,
Terry never does the standard "dummy-out-of-the-suitcase" entrance. During his show his wife Taylor will either carry the figures out, or he has them "hiding" behind display podiums which are already in place on stage. Taylor does a fairly good job at trying to keep them moving once they are handed off to her. On the George Lopez clip, you will notice that she keeps Maynard animated while he "snuggles" his head into her cleavage. Also she had "Barry Fabulous" partially hidden as she walked out angled with her back to the audience. She keeps the figures cradled as Terry would hold them. You don't want to kill the illusion of life. I originally was bothered by the hand-offs, but Terry keeps his show rolling at such a fast pace, it works for his venue. Besides, Terry is "no dummy" he knows that most of the audience have their eyes on Taylor.

Wanlu;

I want to make my entrance on stage and patter and do quick magic tricks before going into the ventriloquist routine.

I am actually designing and building a small platform with a curtain and draw strings that will have Dan behind it; when I am ready to introduce Dan, I will play music, pull back the curtain and slide him out on a chair with wheels on a track, as he moves forward on the track, I’ll slip my hand in and animate him; at the end of my routine I’ll slide his chair back and close the curtain.

I feel this is more realistic and different than placing him in a case and more acceptable to my church audience than sliding his face down a woman’s chest.

What do you think?

Depends on the church.

Can you have him say, "I am Oz, the great and powerful?"

Or

"Rube Goldberg, eat your heart out?"

Or have somebody play the bagpipes and then you say,"Of all the souls I have encountered in my travels, his was the most... human."
Then launch him into the audience.

Or...

But...perhaps I have said too much. Smile
