Hi Guys.
Can someone explain the difference between the open mic spots that you have to email to apply for and the ones that you can sign up for on the first day of the convention?

The open mike you sign up for get adjudicated by a panel of 3 pros and you get a dvd of your spot. The regular ones are just 6 minutes in front of an audience.

Neale is right on this. In the Senior and Junior Open mic sessions you get your DVD , judges critique sheets, and a certificate for performing. The pros who critique you will be around so you can stop them if you have a question about your performance. This is NOT a contest, but an opportunity to improve yourself and to work on being a better vent, with no pressure to win. You win when you are satisfied with a top quality performance.

The General Opn Mic sessions work the same except you get no DVD, no certificate, no judges sheets..however, if you ask a pro to watch you and give you an evaluation, I'm sure they will be happy to obliege. Glad you'll be there , Colin!

I'm truly sorry you missed the Senior Open Mic to get valuable critiques, but I would be willing to watch you (as long as I am not called away to put out a "fire") as well as get other pros to watch as well and give you some comments. That's the best part of the Senior Open Mic is getting the professional coaching ideas from other pros. I'd be glad to see if I can do that for you, if you'd like.
