I went to court today about the situation that landed me in jail. I was very nervous but a couple Ambien last night put me straight....yahoo! I went in and the judge, who was a wonderful fellow, retired state trooper, presided. He looked at my lil' file and he says "you are from California arent you?" and I told him I was from Eastern Washington but LIVED for a mear 36 years in California (they don't like Californians here). He explained to me that he knew it because what I had was a warning ticket which isn't a real ticket in San Jose but in Nevada it is based on old laws about the speed limit in the 70s when Nevada ignored the 55 mph speed limits. So there are some warning/fix it tickets issued here that DO require you to go to court while in all other states you would not be expected to. He did apologize that I had to go to jail for the night and then checked to make sure I had a license, registration, and insurance and told me to have a nice day so that was that. I still don't understand what the heck happened but hey, it is over with. I will say this, I now know if you get a ticket or a warning to check if there is a court date associated with it because I never realized that court was involved even if just as a formality. I was not the only one there with a 'warning ticket'.

Grand kudos on beating the rap. Hate to think of one of the Café's premiere curmudgeons as having to turn big rocks into little rocks. There must be something to that saying that ignorance is bliss!

Thank you thank you....
We shall soon have an answer to the question of my nieces innocence in her little argument in a bar (if you recall). It turns out, as more info leaked to me, that she didn't just tell a girl to hurry up in the restroom who then came out and hit her (my niece) and then fell down when the security person saw what was up and my poor niece was victimised by 'the man'. Seems some how my niece had a broken piece of glass in her hand and gashed the %#@@# out of the girls face with it. Her answer to the question as to what happened is "I don't know....dude" and her lawyer advised she come up with some kind of answer that didn't have those words in it. I have no doubt she did it but we'll see what the courts say! good times.... |

I was looking forward to a book and then a movie. Santa Goes to Jail. It could have been up there with all the other Christmas movies.

No thank you, jail here is worse than I could have ever imagined. It is so bad that I actually feel sorry for those that work in it. There are no bars, just big steel doors, they toss you in, the little windows are painted over, and the people there are in that room 24 hours a day seven days a week with four exceptions, court, lawyer, visitors (15 minuts a weekend total so if your pal shows up for 15 minutes then your mom the next day tough for your mom), and church service. I ran into people in lock up in the same room for over 100 days....in a JAIL not a prison. Amazing. It is so bad that people were looking forward to being sent to the real prison where they would get better treatment. Even in lock down at the big prison the worse of the worse get out for an hour a day.

And yet, when they get to prison some of them will end up stabbing a guard or counselor to try and get the death penalty. Prison's so much fun that passive suicide looks good by comparison.

You're from Eastern Washington? That explains a lot. Where exactly in Eastern Washington do you hail from?

My dad switched to GE because in Texas a tornado tore up the street over. My dad, from NYC, was so freaked out by it because of us kids he quit to get out of Texas and went to GE.
