Hey guys,

Do you know where to get a silk handkerchief that has a newspaper design?

Thanks,
Dan

Dan,

Does the handkerchief really needs to be made out of silk ?

Otherwise have a look in shop that sell all kind of fabric used for sewing and get them made in the size you wish. The might even have this pattern printed on silk fabric.

Oliver.

Print a scan of a newspaper onto the inkjet printable silk from this company.

Thanks for the link, Spellbinder. I may need to use them for a smaller Line of Silks with select international flags. I guess this can also be helpful for customizing one's own 20th Century silks, etc., depending on the size one wants or needs.

Fake newsprint on silk can "faked" by using a rubber stamp on white silk.

Don't those inkjet inks make the silk stiff?

Do they print dark and vibrantly?

Yes, the inkjet ink makes it somewhat stiff. They are not terribly stable either. They will fade.

The rubber stamp is probably the best idea short of screening the silk.

Ink jet may also fade onto your other silks and props! It has to stay absolutely dry. In my climate that is hard to keep.

I have never seen a newsprint silk available for magic. The only newsprint is sometimes available in heavy cotton material in some fabric stores. Cartoon print is available as well in heavy cotton material.

I just thought I would actually answer your question.

Odd that we sell newsprint dove harnesses (lycra) but don't need silks because of the use of newspapers. The "newsprint" cloth used in tear apart vanishes is cotton.

I had no idea that silk was available with newspaper print. Now I need to think up a routine for it. Hmmm...
