I'm happy folks are taking up the challenge to make magic with coins more 'magical'.
My approach is to make the handling as minimal and open as possible. I like the basic approach of holding coins at the fingertips for visibility and using a fan display instead of counting procedures. This came to me as I learned John Ramsay's routines from 'The Ramsay Legend'. The Latta inspired one handed vanish, and the Roth inspired edge grip work left only the coin switch to complete a set of tools to do coin magic at the fingertips. The one handed vanish and the backclip recovery completed the set of tools to do most coin magic on open hands. Kainoa's recent offering brings standup coin magic ahead from the time of Downs and his followers like Buckley, to the 21st century. Coins can appear in open display, vanish and change. The options are yours. What makes this worth the effort is yours too... for the price of critical examination of your routines. Beyond the challenge of 'in your face' is a greater goal of making magic that looks magical. Sometimes it is more magical for something to happen with items held at the fingertips. Sometimes it is more magical for the items to be held in a closed hand. I suspect many magicians who do a copper/silver/brass transposition routine have toyed with a coins across phase. What will make a routine special is the presentation and basic premise as put forth to the audience.
...to all the coins I've dropped here

I don't know if it has been mentioned(too much to read through), but I had my take of three fly with only 3 coins(and without sounding too braggy I think it was the best using only three coins and no gimmicks) "published" on the Café for all to see for a short time.

You probably would be hard pressed fooling anybody with a 3 coin 3-fly (that I have seen or read, and I have read Jakks'). The deception is thin as it is with 4 coins and takes an extremely adept hand to pull it off. 3 coins makes the illusion untenable unless you travel at a ridiculously fast pace. The best version so far of the attempt though would be Chad Sanborn's (sp?). Not mad keen on the first two travels (or the speed), but the final move is great. Given that he had given himself an extremely difficult brief of using only 3 coins (and a restriction that is not really warranted IMO), he has done very well.
You might want to check and see how long Mike Gallo has been doing his One Dollar Trick. It looks remarkably like a 2 coin three fly to me! (that final transposition of both coins just looks amazing) Maybe Mr Gallo is not getting the credit he deservces in the 3-fly follies!
May your moral compass guide you true - South West is where the honourable man fare. Pity those who lose their way...
