I've got one coming, I'll give it some prcatice and try to get back to you with some answers. It certainly has folks out there who think it is a very good piece of magic.

In my Dollar Store Magic section, Book 2, "Vanishing Silk Gimmicks" there is a "Coin Bottle Silk Vanish" that makes a great "in your hands" silk trick. You make it yourself from plastic coin bottles (sources given in the e-Book). Basically, you can hand the bottle to a spectator, ask him to remove the cap and you put the cap in your pocket for safe keeping. Then give him the silk and let him tuck the silk in the bottle. You intervene just long enough to tuck it down deep, then go to your pocket and get the cap, putting it on while handing him the bottle to screw the cap on tight. Later, let him open the bottle to discover that the silk has vanished. From most coin stores, it costs less than a buck to get the coin bottles needed to make the trick yourself.

I wasn't even aware of this piece - I'll be looking for a review - the only downside I can see is that generally I use larger silks for my effects.
The magic is not in our sleights and illusions, but instead in our ability to bring love and joy.

Hi--The Viking "Wonder Silk Tube" was originally more known as the Brema/Abbott's "IMPROVED Handkerchief Cassette".
The TUBE can be handed out at the conclusion...Silk is really gone....Tube is not faked. The "silk" is seen literally right up to the last minute, when you cap that end of the tube....you then can immediately place the tube in full view, or hand it to a spectator to open. It does have a minor angle-issue...but that's easily covered with misdirection. Silk can be up to 15", or so. |

I have an original brass Abbott's version for many years. It is very good, and have used it in close-up and stand-up shows. You don't see this kind of metal work, these days.
It is kind of an alternative to using a Hank Pull, palmo, etc. to vanish a silk. You can perform it while the spectator is right next to you. Recommend it, if you wish to vanish a silk and have it appear in another place. You can even have the silk signed, and have it appear in your pocket, the very same silk. It is similar to Morrissey's Goblin Tube only with a different gimmick and a convincer. |
