Recently aquired this handcrafted Lotta from Tom Cerellius at medieval-magic.com. It is made of stoneware pottery and is simply beautiful. It works like a dream. Tom has a great assortment of pitchers and vases in varying sizes and will take custom requests. Great pricing and Tom is a very amiable fellow. He backs up his products with a guarantee. Packed well and shipped quickly, I challenge anybody to find a better Lotta on the market today. He also has a great selection of silver jewlery and some odd effects available on his site. Check him out..once word gets out, I suspect he'll be very busy.

Thank you Marlowe, several members of the magic Café' probably have one of my lottas.
Any complaints, fellas? I recently have come up with a NEW lotta..... a stoneware mug, very deceptive and works like a dream, I even came up with a historical presentation with this.

I've been raving like a lunatic for years about Tom's wonderfully practical and bizarre Lota pots and bowls.
There's a picture of mine in my book, along with the routine I use. Great price for hand-made art that is crafted by a magician for magicians. While you're on his site, check out his Ode to Toad, it is delightful magic! Magically, Walt |

I'll see what I can get pho-toad (pun intended) this weekend Seth. The mugs are glazed
in a "turbulant blue".... very nice, but usual looking pottery. I have made lottas that look like vases, tall and short, pitchers, mugs, and even a Viking horn that was a lotta. I'll do my best to get this quickly and try to upload it. Thanks for the nice comments guys.

You'll love the pieces when Tom can get some posted.
Sometimes you'll want standard, ordinary looking pieces. Sometimes you'll want large or small, at times custom looks. The prices are very fair too for hand crafted products. The great thing is these can be made to order, colors and all. The have been very nice pottery lota's over the years, but I love that Tom is flexible and sensitive to magician's needs. Just finished a new set of lotta containers, mugs, vases, pitchers small and large. These will take about 3 weeks to dry, if you would like one and have a specific color I can do that for you and schedule that color to be fired on them when they are ready..... any takers?

If there are any takers on Tom's Lota products,
as a sort of homage to his work, and a bonus to you, PM me with: a) The style/color you purchased. b) Your style of magic and thoughts for use of the prop. c) How it may fit into your shows. I'll put on my thinking cap and attempt to come up with one or two premise/story outlines to jump start to create your own presentation, if you've read "the" book you know my style and if this offer would apply to your magic. I'm super busy right now but I'll try to get my thoughts to you as soon as I can. I want to support Tom's unique pieces as much as I'm able. Magically, Walt |

Thanks "Supercool" and of course, Brother Walt ! Bill Spooner from N.Carolina is publishing a book on the lota and its history.... he has several of my lotas, and several photos. Presidents of some of the magic clubs have also purchased some of the lotas..... I have just unloaded the kiln with some new ones and if they are not to your liking..... ask, I can make it and I love challenges for one-of-a-kind pieces to fit your theme.

Tom!
The Lota set arrived today (talk about safe packing!) and both pieces are absolutely beautiful. I could not wait to get them wet! The small style Lota Pitcher is so cute, about the size of a creamer jug it still holds more than four good pours. The fat round Lota Mug is really fantastic and holds a good six pours. The size and placement of the crucial control area is perfect and allows for fast fills. And the hand-crafting in the pottery and glazing are just perfect, love the colors. I so appreciate you’re lovely work, obviously made with such care and love. Your prices are unbelievable considering what quality magic props cost! I love that my pieces are one of a kind as they are made individually. I’m cross-posting this thank you email to you on Magi Café so the guys can eat their hearts out. <grin> Thank you again my friend, Walt |

Marlowe, I've lost too many valuable one of a kind props through the years, I now take extraordinary precautions.
I have a check-box list of comes out of the suitcase and goes in the suitcase at every show. I keep my Lota in a padded velvet bag, and have been oh so careful to open it's bag over the carpet. It sits always on the center of my performance table, never near the edge. I know how you feel, and understand your broken heart. Call Tom, tell him what it looked like, and I'll bet he can make a facsimile for you at a good price. Magically, Walt |

Thanks for the empathy and the good advice, Walt.
I will take it to heart. On the bright side..it bounced off a porcelin sink and landed on a tile floor..and only the lip broke.. Let's you know how well made it was. Ps. Hope to see you in Nov...and congratulations! M |

Thanks for the comments guys, it is appreciated. I have ONE of the small pitchers left from the last firing (the creamer size Walt Anthony was referring to). Currently have another order for a Greek/Roman style lota vase..... gotta love those special projects!!!

Wow, thanks for the site link. I will definitely be shopping here. I love the double handled designer lota vase. Are there plans for foo cans as well? A matching foo can will be stunning.
Peace

I went to check out Tom's site and his 'Magic Store' button is not working. Is he out of business?
