Thirties screw ball comidies here, with a deep bow to late fifties/early sixties Brits.
Watched "Date Night" last night, It's a chick flick, but I liked it and my GF didn't; go figure.

I was disappointed in Date Night. I like Steve Carrell, and I like Tina Fey, but it wasn't working for me. I liked Baby Mama much more (which, btw, is a 'buddy flick' and/or an 'odd couple' flick; not a 'chick flick').

Guess they forgot to tell Bill Buckley.

Agree with Shaun of the Dead, also Hot Fuzz, from the same guys.

Judy Holliday. What a funny lady! "It was easier for me to change my name than for the whole family to have to change theirs..."

Just watched Hot Fuzz on TV, that's what reminded me of Shaun. I also thought Run, Fatboy, Run was a great movie.
Shaun is my favorite from these guys, probably because of my love of zombie flicks, but they always seem to do top notch work.

Gotta say, I was so completely wrong about "The Hangover" that I feel I have embarrassed myself beyond repair.

I've just decided to take a break from watching it for the third time, and I'm laughing at nearly every line in the movie. Nearly every line. I even walk around the house these days singing, "Who let the dogs out...?"

My wolf-pack has grown by one more movie.

Thanks to whoever recommended it. (I think it was Lobo in another thread somewhere. But it doesn't matter.)

I'm even planning to play clips in class. What better way to teach about stress and weak forms than to listen to Alan say, "...and he was a ru'tard...."?

I have to say I was pretty surprised that you didn't like it that much first time around. I don't make it through many 30-second stretches without laughing.
