Hello all,

I have a question that I bet you guys can help me with...

Years ago I bought a "Total Eclipse" set from Jay Scott Berry in pink and aqua. I've performed the trick quite a bit in my festival set and like it pretty well.

About a year ago, I bought his chameleon knots set, again in pink and aqua. Again I really like the trick.

So here is where I need your help. I'd like to get a custom set of diamond cut silks. One pink, one aqua, and one pink and aqua striped. I'm basically looking to perform the same "Total Eclipse" effect but with a regular d** t***. Jay doesn't sell this kind of set, so where could I get something like this?

Now the other thing I've been thinking about is whether or not this pink and aqua is really the right color combination. I like the pink and aqua for the chameleon knots. Should I go with other colors for the color changing silk routine?

Basically this is just a 4-5 minute silent routine with silks that I perform to music. I like the diamond cut silks because it allows for two changes rather than just one.

Silks really aren't my strong suit, so I could use all of your suggestions.

I could possibly hand paint something like this for you. But be forwarned, it will not look as crisp as a painted silk nor will it be cheap.

I am going to experiment with some other dyeing idea once the weather breaks and I can work outside. Right now, we got hit with another 8" of snow.

One thought, if you go with the two colors as you suggest you are going to increase the costs. If you go with only one color and white, it cuts down the number of steps to dye the silk and lessens the chance for misdyed silks.

There are many advantages of diamond cut silks.

However, I never recommend having patterns or printing on diamond cuts. They will tell on you. The audience will know that they are not square silks. That is not a problem with solid colors.

For a dye tube, 4"x36" streamers take the same space as a 12" square and you can use patterns like zebra silk.

Bob makes a valid point about the appearance of diamond silk with a pattern on it.

Visually, it may be more visual to change it to a streamer.
