As the routine progresses, the performer becomes increasingly perplexed by his inability to discard the Queen. The Homing Card is a card to pocket effect with an instant repeat. Adding the Hip Pocket Mullica to this routine puts a big climax at the third beat. After the card jumps to the performer’s pocket and then returns, using the original handling, flip the pack face up and insert the card and then spread the pack to show it in the middle. As the face up pack is squared a cover pass takes it to the bottom of the pack and the cards are held in Biddle grip as the empty hand reaches into the other side pocket (since the pack is face up it naturally goes to the other side). When the hand comes out without the card and begins to take the pack the selection is side-slipped into a full palm. At the exact moment of the steal the performer flinches a bit as if something bit him on the butt, and exclaim "You have got to be kidding me!" as he twists his body to look behind. Allow the hand to be seen empty as it removes the wallet. At the same time the pack is placed on the table or handed to someone. The palmed card is loaded under the wallet as it is flipped open, and then produced from the zippered compartment to finish. Make a point of 'looking' for the card before finding it in the zippered compartment, checking between the bills and squeezing the wallet as if trying to discover exactly what is/has happened. The Homing card has a contrasting back thanks to the use of the Jennings Five Cards Count and an easy double turnover from the middle of the packet, an easy Card Switch, the Ascanio Spread and the KM move, the Annemann/Christ Alignment and the Tenkai palm, the Rumba Count and the Erdnase Palm Change. Sophisticated routine but with no difficult part except for the Tenkai Palm and the Erdnase Palm Change (which can be replaced with Eric Jones’ El Cambio Nada). The routine is not as difficult as the variety of moves involved could lead to believe. This video is an in-depth look at the very fabric of audience attention control, through the use of body language, eye contact, and relaxation and tension, in order to become a more deceptive magician. It begins with an open discussion of the concepts behind deceptive magic, after which Michael amplifies these topics with a practical demonstration with two classic effects, one of them being Francis Carlyle's “ Homing Card" , a card to pocket version. Seems to be a very extensive and complete list - your commitment to magic and it's history never ceases to amaze me Lawrence!

The problem with this list is, that there are two completely different plots, that go with the same name. I suggest splitting it to differentiate between the Hugard plot and the Carlyle plot.

I thought of splitting them, but my lists are done for my research in tricks and I thought it would be interesting to include a sort or reverse matrix approach to the Braue effect. Thus I decided to leave both effects together as a trigger for imagination. Your comment however is definitely pertinent.

John Guastaferro's Homage to Homing is my current favourite trick to perform, it flows so nicely and leaves spectators completely baffled.
