I'm an amateur, but I was sure impressed with the excitement you captured in your very professional trailer. Be careful with that bullet catch thingie!

Just an observation-
I think it could be made much stronger by making it shorter. There is a lot of repetition (spin-the-box from performance A followed by spin-the-box from performance B, produce person from box followed by same, followed by same.) This style of editing becomes a lot more about style than substance. You really don't need any filler material. Perhaps if there was a voice-over and you needed to fill the time it might be different, but I began getting the feel of needless repetition. This is not to say that there is anything bad in the video, but if I was a booking agent for an event, I would rather see more continuity of a single performance than a lot of snippets of moments from the same routine. This would give me a better sense of one of your performances rather than a snappy video of rapid cuts and fast music for its own sake. It is well-edited, but in my opinion could be better-crafted. Just my opinion for what it's worth. |

Thanks Frank. I'll look into reworking it a little. The reason for having the repetitions is to show a variety of venues which the performance can play for. I've worked in an event company that hires performers. Usually, they aren't interested about watching videos.Thats the reason why I wanted to add that variety to the video. Then again, this aint an argument. I'll work on that lil change

I think that you can still get the effect you're after by cutting the illusion in sequence, just changing the venues along the way. It makes it easier for your viewers to track the action of the illusion, and brevity is always necessary in making a good streamlined video presentation. I'm actually in the process of editing some commercials right now and I'm always amazed at just how much info I can fit into a :30 spot!
My rule of thumb in making a video is: #1 Shoot as much footage as possible. #2 When editing, cut out as much footage as possible. In narrative filmmaking, there is a visual shorthand that allows compression of time. And it's always difficult to edit ourselves. But really the shorter the presentation is, the better the material that is left. What you have is good. But I think with some work you can take it to great! |

I get it!! Same illusion, different venues but instead of repeat actions... you see the routine in consecutive parts. THANKS FRANK!

1) Your Sword Basket is a Copy of our design (Illusions by your design)
2) The motorcycle to Girls is Copperfield's 3) Your sub trunk with no trap lines with fabric in the lid is unfortunately a copy of our sub trunk as well. |

Hi Illusion Tech, the sword basket is the Modern Sword Box built by Eastern Shaman Magic. I am unaware that it was your design. The Subtrunk as far as I am informed, IS built by you. ILLUSIONS BY YOUR DESIGN. I bought it from another magician that stated it was built by your company. I guess its easy to scream ripoff.
The bike illusion, well, it is inspired by Copperfield. no arguments there. Lastly, Las, the huge base is built by some dude that Was once on the Café that is now banned. There's a long story behind the base but lets just say I only got it 1 day before a big show. It left me no choice. There is no emphasis on it on the video, which is distributed to laymen anyways. TO ALL OTHER posters, I have removed the video to rework on it. I do not own the sword box anymore and I strongly do not believe in Rip off illusions. Just, in the course of learning and growing as a performer, you have ups and downs. I thank you for your time and your efforts in chiming in to improve this video. Thanks and Cheers! |

No big deal there Mike. I respect the efforts of others and value my own too!
The Copperfield bike vanish is definitely inspired by him and back then, when I was doing my tv special, when I was 17, I wanted to showcase that. Which I did. The huge base... well, I tried to avoid a shot that shows its thickness. The guy that built it, once released a how to build bases product. U can see his work here. He charged a reasonable sum then demanded more money for materials and only delivered a day before the event. Almost 3 weeks due. He did not deliver the promised illusion, which I called Men at work, a spiker type effect around a construction theme. I was told to adjust with a flimsy aluminum frame and that refrigerator, I mean base. As I was committed to the show, I had to go on with it. No excuses... but that's the truth. |

Kyle,
Thank you for being ethical. Very few and far between in this business. It is also certainly the pathway to success!! If you ever have any questions about any props, magic or otherwise, feel free to contact me directly on here. I would be glad to provide any and all advice. Once again, I appreciate your honesty, and as my sorry ass forgot to mention, the video and your performance is great!! I hope our paths cross in person!! Vinny Giordano--Illusiontech |

I just sent the following letter to Eastern Shaman,
Dear Sir, This is Vinny from Illusions by Your Design. It has come to my attention that you are making unauthorized copies of our “Modern Sword Basket.” I make my living building props for professional magicians here in Las Vegas. Stealing the design that I worked very hard on is shameful. Every copy that you make prevents me from putting food on MY table. I respectfully ask that you stop producing my “Modern Sword Basket” design. Thank You, Vinny Giordano Las Vegas, NV U.S.A. |

Kyle,
I received a response from Eastern Shaman: Dear Vinny, Thank you for the email. I really apologize if I copy your design. I really don't know if that s belong to someone, as many yrs ago someone ask me to make it. Since now, I will not make your design and change to other. CHeers, CC. |

Glad to see this was so easily resolved. I wish I could stop all the knockoffs of my Fastest Trick in the World and my flower design styles.
Nice to see you are alive and well Vinnie. It has been several years since I saw you. You were working on Melinda's show and took us backstage. Are you going full up with the company again? Richard

Yea Vinny! I've seen your work before, from Jam to the subtrunk. Even Charles Bach was all praises when I met him in Malaysia. You should get a site up soon!
