An old post but with the Classic Silk to Egg there are many opinions on routine and props etc,I don't like the talk over routine as the silk to egg is a classic on its own, this does nothing to enhance the classic version we all perform.

I like Cody Fisher and Pop Haydns routines and use a combination of those and my own input into my routine.
I only work the corporate market so I use the following.

I use Viking Magic white eggs as they are so real looking,as are Bob Sanders amazing products also, very easy to handle and look great on stage.

I use white for visibility on stage and I spray paint in 10 mins the real brown eggs using a fast drying matt white finish and use these again for visibility, they look so real and are geat for visibility which is crucial anytime we perform this
Brown eggs are not as good for stage and distance in shows I perform.

Viking Magic also has the artificial spots made of silk that with a tiny bit of Blu Tak stick so well to real eggs, they are quite bulgy and look awesome and from about 1 metre look exactly like the silk in the hole at the back, again I have plenty of these in stock at home as well as large diamond red silks. Red Stickers just look naff and cheap and so unconvincing

This effect as we all know plays so strong and is great at any time during your show, I usually use it 2nd or 3rd item in my act after opening with music etc
for newer magicians this effect when presented properly is a show stopper...
cheers

Tom,

I am too - love your version! Do you have any plans to release the updated handling of Things That Go Cluck?

Thanks!

In the February 1981 issue of Genii, Charlie Miller has a presentation for the trick called Kling Klang Updated. The nice aspect of this routine is that it preserves the original idea of a transposition of the silk and egg. In this case the egg is placed in the pocket and the silk in the hand and they switch places. What is nice about this approach is that the real egg is never in your pocket until you place it there in the first phase of the trick. This allows you to do the trick at any time in your program without having to worry about a real egg in your pocket.

As someone that performs this routine a lot in the corporate shows, the idea of Charlie Millers above and the egg not going into pocket until that moment has lots of great possibilities, as we all know the egg is in the pocket previous and probably why its performed very early in the set...thanks for sharing
