I love this trick. I learned it years ago. I do not remember from whom. He used regular cards, but I think that using Tarot cards makes the trick better. I do not even know the title of the trick or who invented it. "The Devil's Revenge" is the title I have given the routine.

The trick is the Homing Card first published by Frederick Braue and published on p 13 in Showstoppers with cards
The devilish plot is a matter of personal taste and I'd like to remind Inaciolino that Scot's Discovery of Witchcraft included only one chapter on sleight of hands in the middle of a thick book about devils and succubs and other charming creatures rejected by a Christian writer with the book being burned by order of an obscurantist king of England... Jesus message is about love for one another (not for sectarism) isn't it? Didn't Jesus himself get tempted by the devil just before being arrested? Doesn't the Gospel deal in writing about the devil without falling into blasphemy? Would you reject masterpiece of litterature like Dorian Gray's portrait or Faustus just on the account of your faith? Are you aware that until this very day there is an official exorcist in the Vatican? I find it a good idea to have performed the effect with Tarot Card and think that this casts a different light on the effect. You may want however watch the performance acting touches placed in their presentations of this effect by magicians like Fred Kaps or Joe Turner: they discover AFTER the spectators that the devil (in your case) has returned into the packet. This enhance considerably the effect. Tommy Wonder was using the same subterfuge in his Tamed Card [wild card] It would make your effect less linear and only directed by voice effects

I like the gambits of Kaps, Turner, & Wonder when they notice that the card has returned after the spectators have seen it. The problem I see with this particular routine is that if I "noticed" that the devil had returned after the spectators see it, it would be comical. I do not want this routine to have any laughs at all. This is one of those routines that I want to be kept "creepy".
