Hallo!

I posted about this a little earlier today in the "I Want To See The Manager" section of the forum as I wasn't sure if this type of posting was acceptable. A member suggested I might try posting the matter in question here and, as there have been no posts objecting in the other forum, then I'm going to give it a go. Apologies in advance if it's inappropriate in any way and, if so, hopefully a moderator or forum-type person will come along and either remove it or edit it accordingly.

I'm currently writing a book and making a documentary about a subject unconnected to magic or magicians but, as part of the research and overall background to the documentary, I'm very keen to interview an illusionist and/or escapologist as one of the people I wish to speak about in a small section of the documentary is a now-deceased performer of such an act (for details of Blondini, the performer I'm including, please see my post here : http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......um=134&6 ).

I'm not interested in asking "how do you do this or that?", and I'm not interested in personal biographical information about anyone who might offer to be interviewed (unless they were keen to share such details of course!) what I AM interested in, is having a brief recorded (to be televized once the documentary is finished) chat about the art of illusion and the issue of whether television and broadcast media has made it much more difficult for people to perform such acts today. I know nothing about the in's and out's of how you all DO these things and I'd prefer NOT to know as I enjoy believing it all to be magic or illusion but I'd be really keen to speak to someone who might be willing to come on camera and just discuss the art in general. I'm a bit of a hybrid and live in both the UK and the US but am currently in the UK. I'm especially interested in anyone with a historical interest in the subject.

I'm not offering some great financial reward (sorry!) but I guess I'd just like to ask if there is anyone who might consider putting themselves forward.

I'm more than happy to give fuller details if anyone thinks they might be interested and, if so, perhaps you could either post a message here or send me a pm. I'm unkeen to go into too much detail on an open forum as the documentary is still in production and therefore I'd prefer not to precipitously publicize what I'm doing (sorry, professional paranoia is getting the better of me!) but I'm absolutely happy to give full details to anyone who feels they might genuinely be interested in helping me out. More details can also be seen from my profile which links to my website containing a brief overview.

Once again, if this sort of post is frowned upon in any way here, then I do apologize and just ask you to understand that I'm posting in good faith and hoping no one minds.

Thanks so much.

Look up Living Illusions, Kev from the duo come here. They are a married couple who consist of an illusionist and well know escape artist and have done touring shows and TV and would be, in my humble opinion, the best source you possibly could find. They are also a nice looking couple so if you film them it won't be a train wreck.

That made me laugh! Sorry, obviously it's great that they're good looking but I'll do my best to make whoever comes forward look as little like a train wreck as possible!

Thank you for that tip, I will look them up. Thanks very much.

Just a warning...many many people may step forward who are as qualified as a stump to be part of your documentary, except in their minds. Go with Living Illusions and you'll get what you want. If you have no standards I'll do it, I'm neither an illusionist or escapist but I certainly could convince you I am.

I've spent far too long around the Hollywood hangers-on not to at least have a healthy cynicism of pretty much anything anyone claims unless I can second (and sometimes also third) source their claims! I do very much agree with you that there's a fair chance such people may come forward but it's also possible that one or two who truly are knowledgeable might.

I will message Living Illusions as they sound perfect but, of course, they may not be interested. I meant to say in my earlier reply to you, bear in mind that the main documentary is about musicians, and making them look halfway good-looking is getting near to an illusion in itself!

I appreciate what you're saying and I AM aware of that possibility/pitfall. But I thought I'd give it a go. I do have a Plan B if this attempt fails. Thanks though, I'm grateful to you.
