Why do you think the effect was ruined? They performed it well in my opinion.

The description of the effect on John's site says you may produce a 2nd person...."Then for an unexpected finale, a second girl can magically appear in the casket for an added kicker to the illusion if you so desire!"

I wouldn't say it ruins it, but if I was an illusionist I would not produce a 2nd person.

Sometimes when magicians pay a premium for an illusion they feel they must get everything they can out of it, whether that's time or an additional punch.

I'm more concerned at his lack of costume. But once again, magicians like their toys and sometimes let other things i.e. production value get pushed aside.

As Joseph Gabriel once said to me..."Class never goes out of style"

I think it's a great prop and I hope the price keeps it out of the hands of those who shouldn't have it.

No - I don't think it ruins it - they performed it very well - it is all in the performance and your style - a bad performer will have the audience looking for the answer no matter what - with a good performer the audience will not even care - does not Magic Unlimited perform it this way since there are 3 of them?

I would not say ruins it, but I prefer NOT to have the second girl produced.

Ok..i was always under the assumption that it was just the switch..and especially when they produce the second girl..the box tends to shake=motion......so I think that kind of throws off the trick

I think it depends on your music and routine.
You can cover the shake by moving the prop down stage or spinning the prop around.
I use to produce the second girl, now I don't because I edited my music down.
The highlight is definitely the exchange, the 2nd person is just a added kicker if you want to use it. Once again it depends on your routine etc but one thing I can tell you is I think 1 person has picked the you know what in regards to the kicker in all the years that I was producing the 2nd person so that's not bad for 4 years and hundreds of shows. And they we're still only guessing not and 100% sure if they were onto something.
Magicians normally say don't use the kicker I say it all depends on the performers and their onstage ability routine and music.

JT

I liked it. Especially because the second assistant was dressed in a totally different way than the first one.

Plus, he didn't do the vanishing glove trick! (Sort of an internal joke, lol).

I know a lot of people thinks the second assistant spoils the illusion, but I feel it is a nice kicker, but the 2nd girl should wear a contrasting costume
I don't think the laymen would think that 2 assistants are used for the change, as for the hand issue, it is only magicians that think in that direction.

The gloves is a give away in my view. She started with the gloves but no gloves when she put out on her hand from the box when the change happen then gloves again. I don't see as an appearing gloves. But that's just me. I'm not sure what other people think about this.

You know, I used to think that two assistants were used. But then I read on Bill Smith's website that it can be performed with only two people. I still had no clue how... But then I saw that video a few days ago.

Bummer.

Even if you have no clue - YES it can be performed with 2 people. (No matter what they did on that video. There is nothing more to say on an OPEN forum - it's already too much said above - maybe it's better to move the thread).
