I've been wondering about this plot in coin magic for a good while. I want to find a couple of methods to do this, but so far I have not come across one that I really liked. Now I know there are effects like Spun and there's another on The Blue Crown, but they're not what I'm looking for. I guess what I'm looking for is something like Hover Card by Harlan, but for coins. Or something maybe like an Asrah? I am open to both old and new school methods. Other criteria I'm looking for too is ease of portability, management, and good for walk-around. So, if anyone has sources and/or guides, please guide me to it. I think I'm gonna make this a summer project. I'm going to try to come up with at least 3 or more methods for this effect. Thank you all in advance.
One for the money...., 2 for a pass..., 3 for a Fly..., and 4 for matrix!

New York Coin Magic Seminar volume 16 -The Kite. Got a standing ovation from a room full of coin guys. The method is as entertaining as the effect.
S.E.M. (The Sun, the Moon, and the Earth) is a sun and moon routine unlike any other. Limited to 100 sets, here is the promo:

Michael, it seems that every time I read one of your posts, you're plugging a NYCS dvd. I'm not saying that there is not good and even great material on them but I just think it's funny.

Jeff O, the reason I mention my group's DVD's so much, is that there is a wealth of information on them, and when someone asks where they can find a particular sleight, or routine, its usually on the set (16 volumes, over 30 hours of coin magic, over 200 routines), or in my Encyclopedia (over 100 coin moves). I would think you would be happy to know WHERE to find a sleight or routine, that's why people ask the questions on here! You see it all the time - Whre can I find a good retention pass. Where can I find a good coins across with a shell, without gaffs, three fly? where can I find a good coins through the table, a four coin production, a copper silver transpostion, getting the coin into someone's hand, etc, etc. And, I am willing to bet that most people are not aware of the contents of each volume. I leave it to the other good coin guys on this forum, to inform the group about their own published routines. This is a forum of magicians helping magicians, and most of the guys who have shared their work in DVD or print for you are more than happy to point out where you can find it. I wish I had this resource when I was starting out - outside of a few books, there was no one pointing out where you can find anything. AND, I want to mention that NO ONE who puts out books, tricks, or DVDs, is getting rich on sales. that is NOT why magicians put out their material. They put it out for the credit, and to help their fellow magicians. Whether you are talking about my group, or guys that post here like Curtis Kam, David Neighbors, Doug Brewer, Eric Jones,Rannie Raymondo and so many more, these guys are happy and proud to share their work. Many of these magicians are not only working pros, who have no need to share, but they have other jobs which is their main source of income. So, I hope you understand now why I mention them so much. getting back on topic, which was coin levetations, I mentioned a darn good one by David Roth. You can find a clip of that routine on this forum if you look around.

I believe there's a finger tip coins across on the market where the final coin floats across. I think Eric had a way of making a coin lift up off his palm and back down awhile back. There was also something called UFO coin but I can't remember where I saw it.

Michael, I completely understand why you mention the MYCS dvd's. . . there's truly great material on them! I was merely commenting on the fact that you plug them a lot.
So keep on plugging because I'm sure that many others will benefit from the wealth of knowledge these dvd's have on them in addition to me. |

A few weeks ago a three fly where the last coin floats accross was offered on the "Tricks & effects for sale or trade..." thread. I am unable to find it but perhaps someone else has a better memory then me can dig up the info.

That was good. There is an english magician who put a dvd out but I can't remember his name right now (his first name was Michael). He had this VCA/3 Fly routine where the third coin levitated across from one hand to the other. Looked great but was a bit cumbersome behing the scenes!

Eric,
That is one of my favourites videos of yours. Will you publish it sometimes? It really looks like real magic because it just a small levitation not the usual flying from one hand to the other and that type of stuff. It's quick and direct and I bet it gets great reactions. |
