I was wondering if there was anyone from Kansas out there doing Gospel Magic or in the FCM?

I looked on the web site, searched for chapters (none) and entertainers in your area (for the state, none). I'm trying to work with my pastor (a ventriloquist who did the Lotta Bowl in this morning's service) to put together some programs for our Methodist church outreach. Are we free to roam the state, like a new frontier? Smile

Would sure like to be put in touch with some like-minded neighbors. Maybe we could start a state chapter.

In our membership section of the website, there are 16 members who live in Kansas. There is a chapter there as well and the information below is from the March/April The Voice, the fellowships magazine.

KANSAS/MISSOURI, KS/MO FCM Chapter
Meets 2nd Saturday each month 10:00am, at the First Baptist Church of Shawnee, KS. 66203. Contact: Bev Dowling: 913-236-8808 or 816-233-1300. e-mail: luckybev@sbcglobal.net. No July meeting.

I'd contact them before showing up, in case the magazine doesn't have the latest information, or they are having a special meeting or something.

Thanks, Kif: Didn't have any luck and not a member yet, but will get that done so I can see the 16 others. Shawnee is a 3-hour drive -- as Calvin Trillin wrote, Kansas' state motto should be "it's a long way across." But it might be doable on a Saturday sometime. Will try and drop Bev and line.

It is perspective I suppose. Driving a few hours in Los Angeles...is normal. But I know that thinking is different in the Heartland.

Hopefully you can connect with the folks. I know the two chapters I'm a part of are highlights of my month...but admittedly both are less than three hours away...quite a bit less...

One reason I don't live in LA, although I love it there. Also my mortgage, which I won't share because it will just hack you off. People often ask, "Why do you live in Kansas?" My answer: "Because with the cost of living, I can afford to visit where you live." Smile
