I am an engineer to trade and have a toolroom in the place I work.

I have purchased a key-bak reel and was wondering how easy it will be to turn this into a locking reel

I have a few ideas but if anyone has made one could you pm please?

I have owned and seen 2 methods to turn the large case model into a locking reel. One by Petrick and one by the old Sterling Magic.

I drilled a hole in the side wall and put a piece of spring on it that went in thru the hole and it worked fine on a thornton windlass.
