Ben,
Looking at DVD #2, under "Complete Coin Vanishes", "With a Handkerchief #2", at about 9:30 on my DVD: the coin seems gold-colored, perhaps with some writing on one side, and maybe a circle within a circle on the other side. DO you recall what coin this was? (It's not a big deal, of course; I'm just curious.) The same coin(s) are visible in some other clips; for instance, looking at the "Sucker Bluff Vanish", it seems to be in a group of coins. Sorry to derail this thread; I should probably have sent a PM instead. -) Larry S. |

I don’t have Ben's MCM DVD set, and to be honest whenever I was first looking to purchase DVDs I don’t believe that Ben's was one of the usually recommended DVD sets for the basics here. Also it is not often featured as prominently at the online magic shops.
That is why threads like this one are so great! They alert people to some products that they might otherwise have not known about. I will definitely pick up this set soon. I love books and DVDs that teach the basics, the foundational stuff, and teach it well. I don’t think there are many non-professional coin guys or gals who could not benefit greatly from keeping the basics close to them and study them regularly. All too often I see new members post here that they are trying to learn coin magic from DVDs that are probably far too advanced for them; Ponta's "Sick", Curtis's "Palms of Steel..." series, and others like them. These are fantastic DVDs but not geared toward the amateur coin magician! Basics; foundation. These are the roots that we need in order to get to the point where we can use the more advanced books and DVDs more effectively. DVDs such as Ben's MCM set; Eric Jones's Metal; Dr. Mike's Coin Sleights Encyclopedia series; David Roth's Expert...Made Easy set; and the videos by Tim Feher and MB. These are the teaching DVDs that amateurs/hobbyists can learn from and continue to refresh their skills for life! Ben, your MCM DVD set is now on my wishlist. Thank you. Jim |

Wow, I feel bad for not initially starting this thread. Ben Salinas Modern Coin Magic 4 DVD set was, and will always be my foundation into coin magic. It is absolutely loaded with slieghts and tricks. It even covers the Okito coin box, the shell half, folding half, and teaches a great introduction on the art of sleeving. I can't say enough about this dvd set and Ben's extreme talent in both a performer and teacher. This set will always be my go to set for coin slieghts.
I also have Ben's Enclclopedia Of Sponge Balls which is by far one of the most comprehensive dvd's for learning sponge ball moves, slieghts and routines. I highly recommed his dvd's!

Just adding my Thanks to Ben also. I have both the Book and DVD's and I enjoy them immensely.
I use them with the Roth and Rubinstein DVD's as my main focal point in learning Coin Magic. Going to get Ben's Easy Coin Magic here next week once my order arrives in the mail. |

I actually think that ths first magic DVD I ever recieved was one of Ben's. His DVD's were really my first introduction into magic (Modern Coin Magic, the Easy to Learn series), and now (years later) I find myself publishing and releasing my own effects. I really have to thank you for introducing me to magic, as I probably wouldn't be as good or as enthusiastic about it as I am today without your teaching.

I know this is an older thread but I must also give props top Ben for this DVD set. I always found some things in the book to be confusing or not so clear to me. This DVD set along with the book has made it possible for me to explore and learn so much about coin handling.
Great work Ben! -Max |

Ben, I almost DIDN'T get the DVDs because the price was so low I thought they wouldn't be any good. It was also hard to comprehend how anyone could cover all of Bobo's book on four DVDs-----and have the skill to do it! Very impressed on how you handled this daunting project. And you are a good teacher. Big Thank You,
TH

I also want to add a big "thanks" to Ben for his Modern Coin Magic DVD set... I purchased it from his website, and it arrived today. The set covers a TON of material, and his teaching is very clear, to the point, and engaging. All in all, a terrific value!

I certainly appreciate Ben's efforts with this offering, it's just a wonderful set of DVDs. And for $20 bucks now, I might have to get me another set just becuz. Seriously though, this should be on everyone's magic shelf and what a great gift to package it with the famous book it illustrates, Bobo's New Modern Coin Magic for a worthy new comer to our realm. Not to mention that Ben is a great guy, wonderful close-up magician and a great Coin Man as well. I continue to highly recommend anything he does, it's always thoughtful and amazing.
$20 bucks...for all that coin magic...WOW!!!

I loved these DVDs. Because of them I learned a ton of sleight of hand with coins and small objects. It is really amazing. I got my set for $30, but they are worth much more. I recently looked at the book (Which I downloaded as a PDF) and Ben's DVD covers almost everything. Nothing important is left out. It is a lot easier for me to learn by DVD too. For $20 you have to buy it if you are interested in coin magic and don't have much experience. These DVDs cover something like 170 sleights and tricks, I believe. I love these DVDs. Thank you, Ben Salinas!
Sincerely, Henri |

Perhaps slightly off-thread, since it is not about Ben's DVDs on Modern Coin Magic per se, but I wanted to share this:
I had ordered the DVDs on Ben's site. When they apparently got lost in the mail TWICE(!!!) on their way from the US to Sweden, he sent them a third time. With a bonus DVD... So before I even got to be impressed by his teaching, I became impressed by his kindness!!!! Mark |

It's a great DVD. It must have taken a very long time to film, yet Ben remains chipper and enthusiastic throughout the entire filming. Awesome!
If anyone from Magic Makers is reading this do you know what would be really cool... A DVD set of the rest of "The New Modern Coin Magic" starting from chapter 17, i.e. the 1966 addendums. |
