Trying to determine the best material to display on for both effect and care.
Any suggestions? Kim |

EXCELSIOR!
OK...only sometimes. It really depends upon the zibit and what you want to do. In addition to beds of excelsior, I've put things on mirrors, in display cases, under glass domes, on jewelry mats (a.k.a. close-up pads), and in open boxes. Dr. Mythsonian does a really cool thing with boxes and frames. I think as long as it shows some sort of care taken to display, it adds value to the eye of the viewer. Chris |

Michael's Hobby stores sell football helmet glass display cases which are cheap, look good, and work well with Zibits.

Bruce, could you please elaborate to some store names that would carry a bell jar?

Hi William,
I think Bruce is referring to Home Sense the home decor chain. http://www.homesense.ca/en/company-info.asp Here is another example of those kinda stores that may have the Bell Jars in your area. http://louryne.wordpress.com/ I am also looking into buying some Bell Jars for Zibits and wood turning a base that would have lots of character. Dry Moss - some of my Higley heads.
Tattered basket with lid. I like things with lids or large bags - adds to mystery and menace. I try to match the item with the storage, so organic with organic and so on. Doesn't have to be a box per se, a burlap pouch maybe. body parts - medical jars or kitchen wares almost leather anything velvet pouches for tarot cards. Happy shopping! |

Id love to ba able to finish off my shrunken heads with an adequate bell jar but the jars sell for more than Id be able to get a decent return for on my heads . I have however in the past been able to find giant fizzy drinks bottles that are domed at the base and sat in a black cup affair .Easy enough job to soften the glue that holds it there and remove the bottom.

For now Fiji Mermaid lies on a felt egg bag and resides in a Mikame Production Casket.
You never know what she may produce? http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll267......maid.jpg Higley Shrunken head in a chophead cup http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll267......Head.jpg Eric |

Heck, treasures abound!

I have a few extra quart-sized antique canning jars (flip-top lids) as well as similar-sized glass display domes with wooden bases. These were purchased or given to me for personal projects, but I can spare some of them. PM me if interested.
