I now proclaim this catagory the Offical Valentina Spot! Y'all don't mind, do you?
***** I was talking to someone from this site, who was into doing double time (i.e., stage magic and Witchcraft), like myself. He and I were discussing random things, and he kept saying that I'd make a great mentalist. Now, here's my thing: Does being Wiccan aid you in any way, when it comes to mentalism? |

It might help you create interesting presentations for effects.

Does being Wiccan aid you in any way, when it comes to mentalism? No, because I'm not into Wicca, but I can see how mentalism could be used to deceive people into believing perhaps that one is a more powerful witch, or it can be used by fraudulent mediums to show communication with the dead, etc. Just as magical technique can be used to fake psychic surgery or create apports for false prophets. Having an interest in paranormal things can help with presentational plots but I don't see any more advantage to being Wiccan than being C of E like me, or Bhuddist, Hindu, whatever. Paul Hallas |

I agree with Paul.
Although being Wiccan you probably incorporate Pagan festivals better for the simple reason you study them more than the average Magician or person (more for bizarre). I´m more into Wicca than any other religion.

All these dang witches... any room for an old Druid?
"Life" is where we all, as creative people, get our inspiration. That includes our spiritual and philosophical beliefs. More than not however, I've found that the majority (of the less learned) in magic love to bash anyone for holding to such a course (or believing in anything outside of science and yourself)of belief and/or testimony. Fortunately however, I'm seeing this change. Probably because so many of us (e.g. the out of the broomcloset Pagans) are speaking up via forums, articles as well as our acts. Yes, the technology of mentalism as well as all other aspects of magic can be abused and used wrongly within any and all religious circles. Most of us wont do such a thing, so I don't think it's an issue. At the same time, the theatrical realm has borrowed a plethora of technology from the auspices of the occult arts and spiritual paths... Muscle Reading/Hellstromism being a prime example... along with pyro of course Anywho... it's all a cyclic thing... we of the Old Ways are reclaiming what was ours and lending reprise to how it was once used... just look at McBride's articles in the old Green Egg publication.

True enough, but then, there is such a huge range of religions that fall within those categories. Although we have no recorded history to give us exact dates, I feel pretty confident in saying that Wiccan and Druidic practices arose relatively late in the Shamanic tradition, however ancient they may relative to today's more popular religions. Then again, There's the prehuman religion of the thunderlizards who worshiped a eggplant-colored dinosaur who frollicked in a paradise where he sang music well suited to walnut-sized brains. In their last days, their oral tradition said that their diety would return one day to bring great misery to the mammals who usurped their position. Perhaps Paul was referring to Barnism? |

Well, I have it on good authority that Barney really is the Anti-Christ... not to knock your beliefs or whatever...
Now, based on this input, I'd say the two of you would love my thesis on REINCARNATION and how it is our goal to evolve physically and spiritually to become a cockroach... think about it... NOTHING WILL KILL THEM, they are eternal...

And one of them (cockroaches) wrote some pretty good newspaper articles back in the first third of the 20th century.

Archie was the subject of many stories by Gene Shepherd back in the 60's. He was the star of the show some evenings.

Always fun to find somebody else who enjoys the same undeservedly obscure allusions Wished I'd heard the Shepard variations -- he was indeed a funny guy.
I am resisting typing this note in all lower case. Darmoe, see what you started? |

Okay, here's a thought:
Would archy still type in lower-case letters today, if he used a computer rather than a typewriter? (and whose name would his e-mail be under? Archy? Mehitabel? Don Marquis?) Ah, questions for the ages! cheers, Peter Marucci showtimecol@aol.com |

He'd use capitals because the caps lock key is no harder to press than the rest. So he'd jump on the caps lock, jump to the appropriate letter then back to the caps lock. It's extra keystrokejumps, but Archy would do it because his professional self-image would demand it.
He would probably have an email account in his own name -- but it would be at Hotmail or Yahoo. And he'd write wonderful tirades against spam. |

hello all, i just borrowed tony's computer. confusing thing. wider than my old typrwriter and all those ***ed extra keys. and where is the ribbon. how do you type without the ribbon. what good is the paper when its two feet away in a typewriter that has no keys. and what is alt, ctrl, delete. i can't hit them all at once. two sets of numbers and no bell. how am i supposed to know when the line ends with no bell. well for getting through this, i should get the no bell prize. i went to hit the carriage return and fell right on my face. ***ed machine.i tried to change a mistake with wite out, but tony started yelling. something about a screen and monitor, i don't know. i tried jumping to a key that says esc and i had to type this whole thing all over again. this computer thing is a real downer. i'm going back to my underwood. sometimes the older ways are better.
archy archy

The trend for less articulate cockroaches seem to be all caps, with all sentences ending with several 1s. There are still a few things that can only be achieved with the shift button.
