The annual job fair at our local community college was cancelled this year because there aren't enough jobs.

With so many jobs oversea's maybe the job fair should relocate.

What is it that makes you think jobs are "overseas"? http://www.bls.gov/fls/intl_unemployment_rates_monthly.htm
Aside from moving to the Netherlands, or joining Destiny in Paul Hogan land, it is not much better "overseas" now is it?

If there weren't any illegals, I suspect Americans would do those jobs.

Employers would be glad to give those jobs to red-blooded Americans if they were willing to work for those wages off the books. It has everything to do with what employers are willing to pay.

I notice that NONE of the countries that we purchase from is on the list ie: Mexico, Singapore, China, India. How strange.

Singapore is even lower, if you look at imports (and not exports). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_the......d_States

Illegals working at, say, Tyson foods plucking chickens or whatever, they are ON the books, aren't they? By off the books, does landmark mean like illegals working as maids or as day laborers? Nothing prevents a legal citizen from starting up their own maid or day labor service, offering to work on the books for the same wage the illegals are being paid. Is there? Hey, last I heard, there are lots of good paying jobs up Fort McMurray way. For anyone interested in travel and excitement, I mean. http://www.fortmcmurrayonline.com/jobs/welcome.aspx Wages are good. One typical cashier job is paying 13.81 per hour.

Califlower, Hopps and Grapes. I was lucky if I made $15.00 a day. The last thing I want to hear is how us lazy American's are not willing to "do the work" Poppycock. Some may not want to do the work but plenty do want the work. By the way, there were plenty of us W.A.S.P.'s in those fields working. Don't believe everything you hear. Iven

Still, probably it makes use of Canadian resources (e.g., oil, metals, minerals, grains), possibly some electronic components manufactured or assembled in Canada. Or medicines, if your company is in the medical or pharmaceutical sector. But are you seriously refuting that Canada is one of your largest trade partners, or that you buy more from Canada than from any one of the other countries you mentioned (besides China)? BTW, when I said Canada was your largest trade partner of course I mean to say "second" largest (according to the recent statistics I've seen).

What I am saying is I can't find any parts my company uses that come out of Canada. Maybe we do have some Canadian parts, I just can't find them. What I do see is lot's of Mexico, Singapore, India and China and some Vietnamese and Japan.
The Company I work for is called SonoSite, we make handheld Ultrasound units for medical use. I agree that the United States does lot's of business with Canada, I just don't see it in my little world here at SonoSite. Iven

Why are the President and our Congress members so worried about shipping jobs overseas, anyway? Aren't they just doing jobs Americans won't do, too?
