David: what's the volume of smoke that comes out of that..
Could I put two into a cremation for places that don't let you use fire? |

Didn't even know that Aristo Craft made those anymore.
For a lot of smoke in a model railroad-type smoke unit, look at the "Seuthe" brand.

Mike,
I don't think it would make enough for a Cremation illusion. You might want to just go with a fogger as an alternative for the Cremation. But, these train smoke units are great for small fog; smoke in glass; Wiz Kote; etc. Sincerely, David

There is a smoke cartridge that isn't considered hazardous to ship. Works great for wizcote. Send me a pm!

Well folks things are still a huge problem with George at chalet magic. I ordered a prop five months ago after being convinced by him not to buy a used one from another magician. This thread goes back a few years and here I am in November 2013 and still no prop. Oh I had a custom ata case built at over $300 and have that from a company that actually builds stuff. Anyway I am less than impressed. I paid full price and shipping also and have nothing. Tells me he was building five of them and I was guaranteed one of them. 5 months later all I have is excuse after excuse and feeling ripped off. The ata case is great wish it had the prop in it. Actually I wish I would have read this thread first. I have always thought it was the ethical thing to go to the authorized builder for an original. But tell what do you do when the authorized builder is unethical?
Really feeling bad for my $$$ at this point. Not sure what to do now that he avoids my emails. Does anyone have a phone number? |

We were looking at ordering some props from chalet, but went with another builder after repeated complaints lodged against George by other magicians. It's pretty sad when your reliability rating rivals that of SNAP.

I was once at a cookout, and we were playing basketball. George claimed he clouds make a shot from the back deck steps - about 15 feet away- and did.
I've never owned any of his props, but he did make good on that basketball shot.

Hahaha! yes, I do remember that Mike...George has always been a good guy to me and I appreciate him and his nuggets of advice I've collected over the years. He was at one of the very first magic club meetings I attended. It wasnt until years later that I realized that THE GEORGE KIMMERY of Chalet Magic was a member of my magic club. I haven't seen or spoken to him in years, and hate to hear about the hard times.

The Jeff Wampler was part of that basketball game. I had no clue that George was THE
George at the time...

Anyone else receive their product from him yet? I wish I had read this thread before ordering his Wiz Kote a few months ago. He had been so good at answering questions about the product, so I thought he'd be good. But like many other people, he has pretty much stopped responding to me. He had sent me an e-mail with a pic of several of them under construction and that the reason for the delay was because it was too humid to use the special paint he has. I believed it for awhile, but not now. Now he's usually not responding at all.

I haven't talked with George Kimery in years. I just stumbled on to this thread, and am very sorry to hear of the problems. About 35 years ago, George built for me a Doves to Rabbit. I used it for a phone show tour. It was a fine prop. At the end of the tour, I sold all of the "plywood" ! and went back to my 20lb "mountebanc" show!

It took me over 2 years to get a Chalet Doves To Rabbit. I had already been warned that I should expect a 2 year wait, so I was willing to deal with that part. I paid upfront in full, kept in close contact with George and he fairly promised to have it built by a certain deadline. (I gave George over 26 months after I paid, and he agreed to have it built by, or before the date I gave him) As the deadline drew closer I contacted him more often, and he would update me on the progress. Well, the deadline came and he still did not have it built. He knew I was counting on it for s big show I had coming up in a few weeks. I reminded him of that, he apologized for not having it completed like he had agreed and then assured me that he would have it done in time for my show. As it grew close I still did not have my prop. I finally had had enough and got angry. After many hassles, begging and threats George finally got my prop built. It was beyond the last minute, and there was not even time to ship it so I even had to meet him to pick it up. He apologized and all was forgiven. I even invited him to go eat at the steakhouse with my wife & I and I bought his meal.
Well, I got home that night and was testing the prop out and on the second 'drop', it broke! I mean it broke bad. It could not be used. I was furious! I called George and demanded a refund, but of course he claimed he had no money. He agreed to repair it. Now I am 2 days away from my show and I am not relying on George anymore. I went to Smoky Mountain Magic and bought one from Dan just in time for the show. It looked better, weighed much less, and I could tell it would be very durable. I liked everything about it better than the Chalet. Anyway, I have not told many about my experience. I really don't want to bad mouth George. He is a good guy and I like him, but he seems to have issues with his magic building nowadays. If you have time I think a Chalet prop will be worth the wait, just expect a long wait going in. And even though mine broke, George builds high-quality props. I think he rushed mine so much trying to get it finished up that he may have made a mistake. George repaired my prop quickly, and though I did not use it, I could tell it was done right and would hold up this time. Even though I had always wanted a Chalet D2R I decided to sell it because I liked the Smoky Mountain Magic model so much better. Luckily I got it when I did because Dan had to stop making them soon after. I got 1 of the last 2 that Dan ever made. I have only used it one other time besides that first show, but I love it! And though I rarely ever need a Doves To Rabbit I feel very fortunate to have a Smoky Mountain Magic model!

I've owned many Chalet props during my professional career and they were build like a tank and well designed. It's too bad to hear all of these stories over the years. My experience was always a positive one. He had many nice designs, perhaps someone will buy him out and bring all those wonderful illusions and props back to the marketplace.
