As similar to my spotlight on posting of THE HAUNTED, can anyone:
A) Explain with certainty why this relatively new Tenyo trick has become so seemingly or actually hard to find? B) Opine on why you feel the trick is so alluring or why it turns you off (neutrals don't count, LOL). C) Opine on how solid this trick is as a Tenyo toy collectible (forget about how good or bad the trick is to you), in other words, without using the word "investment" as I don't qualify many collectibles as such, is this a trick you see that will at the very least retain its current average eBay value (assuming you know or have an idea of what this is) given there is always a demand for Tenyo magic collectibles? Regards |

Hi Houdini 103126. Hope this helps Mate. In order...
A: Yes, it is actually rather hard to find, but I wouldn't classify it as scarce. It was discontined rapidly because of (general consensus being) unusually high production costs. I cannot remember any Tenyo trick being retired as fast as this one. Another reason being (general consensus again)it is considered one of Tenyo's most liked tricks. Supply & demand factor. B: It's a fun illusion. Great props. Examinable. Open to new routining & presentation. Different & novel in appearance. The list goes on & on, but you get the idea right? C: Almost guaranteed to soar in price due to low supply & justified high popularity demand. |

I see old 70s/80s Tenyo in package magic on eBay by far more often than MCB. It's a beautiful throw back to and based on the spirit cabinets of so long ago. Anyone else got anything to add? Thanks Wank! |

It's no secret that I do adore MCB.
So my praise for it is high - it feels very worthy, looks mysterious and fascinating, the mechanics are devious - and yes, copies (and esprecially mint ones!) are and will remain rare what makes their value even rise in the next years! That's why I refused two offers for my spare copy although they were tempting. There's almost no reason not to fall in love with it...

Well I once again I'm not really agree. I love the overall design of the whole, the small colored balls, but for the fact I can not find it really impressive. the first time I saw the video I immediately understood the operation. Moreover, I find finishes poorly done because the gimmick is really poorly hidden when you look at the hidden wall, it is clear that there is a different part. in addition there is a time to stop when we inserted a ball and it falls into the second tube, leaving right away understand that the ball rolling on something. Worst in mine the locking mechanism does not really work because as a small pressure make move the gimmick slightly and more often detach from a few millimeters down exposing the trick.

I have to agree with Nicollino... this is one of my favorites... love performing it. You can perform a number of stages and really involve the spectator as to choice of color order of balls etc. Stereo, sorry to hear yours is not working 100%, the finish on mine is great. I just missed picking up a mint extra from a local dealer for $15... am still kicking myself.
I agree that this one will continue to increase in value. John |

I think I 'm unlucky to have a MCB who is not working 100% I'm the only one who have this problem ? In fact when I push the slide to lock I can always push a little and this make the gimmick move a few millimeters, but it's enought to immediately understand how the trick works. I'll try to find another one brand new or who work fine because I want to perform it without fear. All interest in this device is just because it is reviewable ! And mine is not ! anyway I must admit it's a very nice device with a great mechanism ! But this is not my all time tenyo favorite even if it perfectly represents the Tenyo spirit.

It seems unlikely a spectator would press on the moving support to reveal the gimmick. If it were not locked, maybe by accident the gimmick would move enough to attract attention. However, if it were locked and the person were looking at the bottom of the box I think he would not see the movement inside.
Why would anyone hand a spectator apparatus for thorough examination? There is no time for that. "Here is something else I want to show you..." Go on to the next thing. |

As seen on this is that no more problem. The problem is that I'm not a magician, I have no reflexes, and especially most of the time I present the tricks to a single person. A friend often, and it will not let do it like that!
But it's very good tips, thank you. |

Do not worry, I have not taken that way, and I found it very relevant and interesting remark as.

B) Great mechanism, never seen this before and very hard to discover. I must say someone 'caught' me when trigering the mechanism because she saw me moving my finger ... so take care when doing this.
Perhaps move the box while dropping balls in it? Anyone else has advise about this? C) Logically it will be worth more then Mini Morphosis because it is a much better trick The trick is still relatively easily found on auction sites, the big raise in price is for a year or two I think. |

Love this. I think it's one of Tenyo's most ingenious.

What other auction sites? I have one unopened in MINT condition that I won't open to use. There's one on eBay now but I don't see them turn up much at all. PM me if you have recommended alternative (to eBay) auction sites that you know of that might have them. Regards! |

Sorry Houdini, no alternatives Perhaps it's me but I think I saw them regularly on Ebay, I could be wrong however.
Better keep your mint version for trading purposes in a few years, it'll be worth it |

I like MCB a lot too. I think I like the mechanics of operation and the mechanism more than the actual effect. It's really fun to play with! One nice thing about the intricate mechanism is that it should keep poor quality copies from springing up everywhere.
I remember seeing a few copies for sale last year, but not too many recently. I think that the mint one on Ebay might set a new record! |

Mystery China Box = Tenyo at its finest.
Sorry to hear that Stereo's copy is defective. Stereo: you can't say "I'm not a magician" if you are demonstrating Tenyo tricks to your friends--even to one person. Then you are a magician. There's no reason anyone should see you pressing the gimmick if you aren't concentrating on the actions of your finger at that moment--the audience senses you are doing something and look for the tense part of your body. Try holding the sides of the box with both hands, dividing their attention. (Let the spectator drop the balls into the hole.) Don't use your first finger to press the gimmick. Use your second finger, which is shielded partially from view by your first finger. |
