I've done the statue act myself and I have found one useful way of getting rid of someone who is determined to make a nusiance of him/herself. It's limited to statues that can move somewhat and who do not use masks, but it's a doozy if you can utilize it. Say someone comes up and begins to attempt to annoy you; simply look directly at them, slowly moving first your eyes until they are gazing directly at the heckler, and then bringing your head around (also slowly) until it too is oriented at the source of the problem. Retain whatever facial expression you had before (a big smile works wonderfully)...
That's it. People find it unnerving to be stared at, and to be stared at with no change in expression is doubly so. Best of all, the people around them won't be affected.
The reverse is also true. Don't look directly at individuals in the audience when performing as a statue. It tends to make them nervous and less inclined to give tips.
