Hello all, I have never used square circle in my shows and I was always curious to see if Square Circle plays good with 7-9year olds?
I would love to add it to my 1 hour show but I would like to get everyones opinion first? and what are the best things that YOU produce from it that hits good ? Armando |

I have several different style square circles. The Dazzling Magic Version is one of my favorites. I usally produce silks and streamers. I use them in various themed shows such as Halloween, Winter, Spring, etc, so the colors of the silks and streamers match the theme of the show. I always use the Square Circle as part of an opening or finale to music and not only does it fool children but also wows parents, librarians, and teachers. You will find it in many books at the library but I have never had a child come up and tell me he knows how it was done. The applause as the silks appear tells me that they are amazed!

Without a doubt it works for that age group, as in all magic its what you do with it that will measure its true success. Tommy James has a great Halloween routine with a home made one on his Halloween DVD.
As for what to pull out of one Here are some the usual idea's Streamers Collapsible and or comedy props Silks tied together I have seen hat coils used with great success... |

Mine uses a phantom tube, so it gives me a little by-play before the main production, but I've never seen a show where a S/C didn't really rock the house. Scout troops (many in the age group you asked about) really love it. I produce a lot of silks and silk streamers... and, occasionally, a gift for someone special in the audience. |

Check out Creative Magic. There are also nice used ones that pop up on magic auctions every once in a while. Decide on what size you need and then look for one you personally like.

How sweet of you to say so, Jim. But, I'm just a humble entertainer… nothing at all like the star you are. I don't have any video on the ol' WWW… but there's a little, ol' photo on the "Corporate Events" page of my website. Absolutely great theater! Many of the top acts in show-business played there during the oil-boom-days. It was an absolute honor, and a very humbling experience, to stand on the same stage that Blackstone, Keller and others trod. You know, I think you'd even love it, Jim. The star's DR is stage right… second-bananas DR on the second floor, and supporting cast on the third floor. Thanks for asking, though. We'll have to have a drink sometime. Mando, PM me and I'll give you all the specs on what was produced from the circle. |

Mando, if you hold off on purchasing a square circle, I can promise it will be worth the wait. For anyone who has not seen my Read to Achieve Magic Show DVD, I use what I call a "Daylight Square Circle" and I feel it is a more modern way of producing items rather than using a box. It IS a black art principle using a screen covered in black, a clear tube and a decorated tube. I even use this outside at fairs and festivals and it is extremely deceptive. Even two feet in front of it the tubes look empty!! The screen has been digitally printed by a graphic Image company and they just came in last week and they are being covered in velour. (Not black felt) The load tube is also velour. The entire unit is going to look first class. The load tube is 4" wide by 16" high and will be perfect for those wanting to produce flower bouquets, streamers and they even fit multiplying bottles. I am producing a demo video next week. I will ONLY be selling these off my web site, other wise I will have to discount these too much for the dealers and It wouldn't be worth my time to make them. These will retail for @ $250-$275 and will be a prop that you will be proud to own. Tommy

Haha. See Kyle and Starr's opinion on this thread:
http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......um=17&21 The square circle is just a mean of producing things (unlike fantasy magician which is a performance concept the SC is purely a prop) and therefore it depends entirely what you do with it. What one can produce from a SC is pretty limitless instead of looking for what others get a good reaction for producing decide what you would like to pull out of one and why. |

If you do get a square circle, Michael's mention of the phantom tube I think really adds to the performance opportunities.

Square Circle is not a regular in my show, but as many magic tricks is worth have one of this in your magic closet. When teachers have an special award for a student, I use it to appear the trophy, medals or whatever the price is and fit in the prop.
In "Marks Wilson course" is used to appear a fish bowl, I'm tempted to combine this idea w/ "fishy Bussiness" but is not practical for me travel with water, fishbowl, fish etc...Indeed a nice idea! -H

I know this is an old thread but....
I'd like to add a new routine to my daycare show, and a sqcr would be very useful. The thing is...most of the ones I've seen are rather tight in diamater. I'd like to pull out (in this order) a foam string-of-sauseges, a rubber chicken, a diaper, an appearing broom, and a monkey puppet. (the little kind used in the 'Chico' routines) Looking at sqcrcls, I'm not sure I could cram all that in them. Are there any 'big-mouth' ones out there?
Everybody wants to beleive.....we just help them along.

Here is my idea how I open with the squarecircle productions.
Guilande: put a birthday streamer / guilande on top of the productions, inner tube Blendo: the blendo I use is the type of 4 silks with a loose silk. bundle these up and put it in the inner tube, on top of the guirlande/streamer and productions. ----------------------------------------------------- 1)take the inner tube and the blendo silks and lift the tube up. the silks will fall down and portrude from the bottom 2)put the tube down and perform the blendo effect. the loose silk will be placed over the outer tube (over the guilande/streamer) 3) show the big blendo silk. now pick up the loose silk and steal the guilande/streamer. make the production of the streamer running from the blendo silks. 4) now show the tubes empty and start producing from the square circle I hope you understand this opening effects with the square circle. |

I have never used the square circle but I can attest to the reactions that are possible with it. I once was at a public show that had several well known performers involved(mentalist, illusionist & comedy acts) However when I left & was in the lobby the effect I heard a lot of the audience talk about was William Brewe's performance of the S/C where he literally filled a stage with everything he produced from it. Bill was a great performer, great mentor and one that was always willing too share.
