Micky Hades published the "Improved Substitution Trunk" plans from Thayer. They are copyrighted in 1945, but look like a real steamer trunk. The latch would require some work to make, but the trunk was designed to be examinable so the latch needs to be fairly custom made.

Part of the copy reads:

"The improvemnet of this trunk consists mainly in the fact that it can be taken apart and carried in a car. However, anothe [sic] feature is that it may be assembled, under theperformer's [sic] supervision, by a show committee or a group of spectators and THEY WONT BE ANY WISER. In fact, if the trunk is properly made, they can take it apart afterward."

Not sure if they are still available.

I am almost positive that you can get a set of plans from Owen Magic Supreme - http://owenmagic.com.

I didn't know Owens sold plans. Don,

I did a search found out that Owens does have a book. Here is the web page for Owens http://www.owenmagic.com/Books___Bluepri......nts.html The book is called Keep the Wheels Turning Volume 1. Now does anyone know if this book is the same as the one by Byron G. Wells titled The Great Illusions of Magic? Don,

They might have some of the same plans, but they are definitely not the same book. There are actually two volumes of the "Wheels" books - one for Owen and one for Thayer. According to Alan Zagorsky, there are to be at least two more in the future.

As for the sale of plans, Owen probably has the most detailed plans in the business, and they have been proven time and time again. Everyting is not available, but they have a mighty good selection. Look in the back of the catalog.
