For those who do not know Cody Fisher, he is an extremely talented magician from Texas, who has been a VIP guest right here on the Café. On a side note, if you haven't checked seen his Guest of Honor topics, you should! There is a goldmine of advice and discussions there. Here is the link..
http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewf......=233&251 Cody has just released his version of the infamous Silk To Egg routine (available in hard copy, and instant download). I buy everything Cody releases, and I bought this the day it came out. I immediately read it, and was completely amazed at how incredible his routine is. Definitely a steal at 35 dollars! Cody's routine uses an onstage spectator, which makes the routine play HUGE, and the ending to this thing is seriously unbelievable. Cody has told me that this routine has become the highlight of his stand-up act. I don't want to spoil the ending for you but trust me when I say that if you do the Silk to Egg you will be floored at what Cody has done to this routine. The instructions are super clear and easily understandable. There are 44 photos that show every detail to this fantastic routine. There is a shortage of good stand-up routines on the market these days. This ebook certainly does not fall into that category. If you are looking for the perfect routine to bring down the house, I cannot recommend this enough. As with all of Cody's routines, this effect has been tested for years in the real world. Cody is a pro, and this routine is gold. Buy it today! You will not regret it! http://codyfisher.com/store/item/silk-2-......d-e-book |

Very good routine, I have been doing Steve Dacri version in everyone of my parlor and stage shows. Cody has taken it to the next level.

Yeah, When I read the description I immediately thought "Isn't that Steve Dacri's version?" (The one thing of his I ever did.) Then I read the finale.
I bought the download version and already read it and can give a quick review. It is Dacri's version, and credited, but like Floyd says. Taken to the next level. Dacri's version was good, and I can see that this one is good as well. I predict that magicians are going to be complaining about the "move" though. But we complain about everything and anything. Magicians are weirdos. The "move" isn't bad and I don't see a problem with it. It's worth it and a totally workable routine. Cody works it all the time. Randi |

I could totally see that Randi. I personally think that the routine structured so well, and that if you have done the proper conditioning, there should be no worries about the move. I have also done the Dacri effect for a long time (The only thing I ever did of his as well) so this should fit right in. I can't wait to try it at my upcoming stand-up show. The ending is such a good idea, and Cody has told me so many awesome stories of his onstage spectators freaking out at that moment. Cody always puts out killer stuff... I have so much of his material in my show it's insane..

Didn't Steve Dacri pass away?
Where can Steve Dacri version be found, I could not locate it a separate trick. I like to collect all versions of an effect to see all sides of an effect. Thanks. |

William,
Yes sadly Steve Dacri did pass away. Steve had published the routine a few times, once in print in his lecture notes, and then in video once with L&L Publishing I believe. You can find it on Magic of Steve Dacri No Filler - Volume 3. It is a solid routine, the switch is the best I have ever seen. For those who may fear the Move part of Cody routine, DON'T I have done Steve routine long enough to know that what Cody says will happen will. I am going to include the Cody fisher kicker this weekend at a corp gig.. I have no doubt it will be a winner. Floyd

Thanks Paul and Floyd, I appreciate the info. Have to get these as they sound interesting, never heard of them before and that is hard to believe being Silk to Egg is talked about so much on the Café.

Besides the real egg(s), hollow egg(s?) silks and stickers, what else is needed for this effect?

Depending on how you want to present it, Bob Sanders Egg Dropper would be something to consider as well, not necessary, but it can be a consideration. And yes, it would be plural as you are instructing the spectator to follow along. But being in magic for as long as I have I several versions of the effect already. |

Bob, we are not talking about any standard silk to egg, we are talking about a 'do as I do silk to egg' then the magicians egg turns into a real egg and, get this, the spectator's egg turns into a real egg.
----------------------------------------------------- Randy Buris, everyone one has their favorite, I am sure, I like the Sterling handling. Change is hard, but I am open to new ideas that sound fun and surprising. So taking a look does not hurt. I may not change from what I am doing, but who knows. |

Magic Ian, this is one of those times that if a video clip was available, then Cody Fisher would have nothing to sell. They would just study the video clip.
I think the market for Cody's version is someone experienced with the Silk to Egg effect and desires another approach to presenting it. It may not be for everyone and beginners. So if a video clip is needed, the person will have to pass on purchasing the effect. |

I would imagine that most of the people that buy this are familiar with the effect, and/or already perform it, and want to add an absolutely unbelievable ending to it. That is certainly not to say that it would be inappropriate for someone who is not familiar with the Silk to Egg. I bought it because I have been performing the Dacri routine for a while, and I heard about this one. Bottom line, if you perform the Silk to Egg, this is a must have. Cody has a great track record, and you will not be disappointed. Quote:

This is not a "Cody Fisher review of a trick" section, we already have a section for trick reviews.
This is a discussion of an effect and I find it difficult to spend $35 with the possibility that I might have already been doing the variation. Yes, if there is confidence in the work, show it. Is there no-one who does this version "on the record" and performing it? I place videos on the net that might be reverse engineered, so what. If it is worth doing it is worth seeing and sharing.

Yesterday I performed for a church group that was having an Easter egg hunt, blow up castles and of course an awesomely great magician. I had told them before booking that I don’t do kids shows, however I do family shows so they were ok with having me perform.
Keeping in the theme of the event, I used washable markers and painted up my gaff and real eggs to look like Easter eggs (all the same design). I am happy to report that the marker cleaned off the gaff eggs just fine. I could not wait till I got home so I tucked into the rest room and cleaned them right there. I was worried but knew that even if it did not clean off I could use them over and over this time of year and would just need to buy new gaff eggs for my normal show. However that is not the case all is well. Now for the skinny – I have done Steve Dacri silk to egg for many years and the reactions I get are very good. It is one of the staples of my stand-up show that I do. However Cody additions to the silk to egg took it a whole new direction. When the lady removed the sticker from the real egg, her EYES got huge, she turned to the audience and said, OH MY!! HOW Did I DO THAT! The audience reacted much stronger than ever before performing this trick. IT’S A KEEPER!!! If you do silk to egg do yourself a favor and buy his book on it. Unless you perform in Ohio then I would suggest you don’t selfish I know but it’s that good. As for a video,, come on Ian, if you don't know what the silk to egg is then do some research. The egg switch is so easy and this whole routine is tried and tested by many of us, Cody kicker ending is the icing that Silk to Egg have been waiting for. If you have been doing an egg switch where they break their egg too then don't buy the e-book. The e-book has many pictures and step by step how too. I am sure anyone could do this routine with just the e-book. However if you have problems performing this after reading the e-book I am sure Cody or one of us who do this routine would be happy to help you. --Floyd
