Harry,
If you pulled this off in a room "full of friends" then doing it onstage will be EASY! As long as you follow my script...there are no worries...your onstage volunteer will not notice anything! ;-) Cody

I used this last Saturday in an Easter show. It is a marvelous routine and really fooled em! There are no worries if you follow the blocking of the routine. I'm keeping this one in my act. Thanks Cody!

I just got this today and read through it. I think it is very good.
I feel it is worth mentioning the layout of the ebook itself. If anybody out there is going to do an ebook, you should use Cody's Silk 2 Egg as an example of what makes a great ebook. It is just superbly done. Great work Cody.

I have this, modified it (Yes Cody, I did it - details to follow), and absolutely adore it. Cody has not only released a great routine, but a piece that is near and dear to his heart. Very thought out, logical, funny, and suprising!
I think Cody should have an "egg kit" available, so you have everything all ready to go when you are!
Your choices in life can be compared to watching a magic trick: You can continue to believe the illusion in front of you, find the intrigue and desire to learn more, or quit paying attention the moment you feel deceived.

Pete, I rent to college students (female only). Have for the past 15 years. It keeps this old man young!
I’m still rehearsing this little gem. I hope to have the first real (paid) performance before an audience tomorrow (Wednesday). It is a bar venue where I front for the Karaoke guy before he starts. The rehearsal and practice has gone well. I am pretty much following Cody’s blocking and probably will for several dozen performances until I get the real feel of the routine and understand where I can put the “me” into it. It often takes dozens of performances before the lines get set

What would be the youngest, realistic age of the on stage volunteer? I am very intrigued by this. Thanks

Cody suggests an adult 30-40's that looks like they would be good at following directions. You don't want "Mr. Personality" or someone who is going to ad lib on stage for this effect. I would say the youngest you would want to go would be a teenager if you know they can follow directions. That is my opinion after reading the ebook. Good luck.

I have used 9 year olds and up-you have to know how to work with them, though. Did it again today....fantastic reactions.

@ Cody: Just picked this up from your site. Thanks so much for sharing this! It's a "Why didn't I think of this" moment. Brilliant! Audiences will eat this up!
@Lloyd: Easter egg coloring on the egg: Also a really great idea! That must have gone over so well

This does sound good, but two questions
1) I have a few versions of silk 2 egg (Tarbell, Ammar..), and Bob S's eggs, but not performed any yet. So, is it worth transitioning directly to Cody's version? or best to get used to handling the more traditional routine? 2) I am interested in the special part that is being referred to as "spectator management". I am working on another effect where this type of "spectator management" could also be used (a torn & restored in my and the specs hands). I have a few methods/mechanics for my T&R, but not sure if I have adequate "spectator management". So, could Cody's approach be extended to other effects? 3) Ok, I lied (or just too lazy to edit the above), other than the materials for the Tarbell or Ammar E2S, do I need other hidden items, or are they just helpful? Thanks; John

I just received the booklet today and it is very interesting and well worth the effort for seasoned performers who have been doing a lot of shows and are very comfortable in front of an audience and handling spectators.
Instead of spectator management, I think a better word is choreograph. The effect as laid out in the instructions depends a lot on being able to pick the right type of spectator, wearing the right cloths. Creating a fun experience for all. Can this be extended to other tricks, I don't see how. John Long, from your post I take it you have the instructions, but not the props, yes you will have to buy the props as it is a prop trick. There is a lot to learn and you will not learn it over night, as with any trick it should all be practiced until it is 2nd nature. If you are not willing to put the work in, then save your money, because this is 5 minutes of fun with a spectator following your direction. |

Do you need to wear a suit jacket or have pockets to do this?

No suit jacket necessary Tim. I work this out of my pants pockets.

Yep same here Aaron I work it out of my pants, and suit jacket when wearing one. However tight jeans would be hard to do this in Tim.
I wear pleated khaki pants most the time when not in a jacket and there is enough room in those pockets for me. Floyd
No one said it would be easy, or did they?

Thanks for your thoughts, but I do have the props for the Tarbell or Ammar version (I bought the gimmicked egg's, and the silks from Bob Sander's). I was asking if I needed some others (some mentioned "droppers"), or if I can just use my jacket pockets. John

Here in the UK white eggs are not that common and most eggs from supermarkets are light brown. The only problem is that I've searched online for the gimmicked eggs required and they only seem to be available in white.
I don't really want to have to paint a white one, so does anyone know if they are available in brown? If so I think I'll purchase Cody's routine! AP. |

I have the same problem in France (brown eggs)
You can find the brown hollow eggs to Bob Sanders. They are great Though with Cody routine I don't know how to manage the stickers with brown eggs. The other problem is the switch is more hazardous because if all whites are the same, all brown are not, and it's not easy to find an exact replica of the gimmick. |
