Vinny, I get confused between versions of the classic 'winged silver' and 'flying eagles'. Would you describe the routine you prefer and what you like about it? Thanks in advance, - jonathan

A friend of mine and I just "rediscovered" Cross of India. I think it has much to learn from. To get back to something mentioned before, it is one of the few coineffects that can be done with ANY borrowed coins even pennies. That's impromptu!
(And hey jon, it has a magical quality that's hard to describe...)

Kainoa and I just "rediscovered" Flying Eagles. In particular, the version that starts with only five coins visible, a row of three and a row of two. The first "jump" can be presented as a "transposition" (or "transjuxtiposition"?) of 3 for 2, rather than just the flight of one coin. Cuts down on the repetition. The first person we saw do this was Brian Gillis, on television. Does anyone know if this approach is his, or perhaps Eddie Fechter's?
The other advantage of this version is the number of coins involved. I work with dollars, and the only way I can sneak an extra into the spectator's hand undetected is with a routine involving more than four coins. I'm adding my "enhanced" version of the "Eagles" called "Keep 'em Flying" to my lecture notes for the Magic Castle and LVMI. If you're interested, PM me.

My favorite version is my modified form of Cody Fishers turtle coins. It involves an ES, the coins are twice made to travel into the spectators hands and the last move puts all of the coins into the spectators hands and leaves your hands completely empty. VERY strong effect and one of my favorite effects to perform.
If you know Turtle coins, give me a shout and I will fill you in on some bulletproof moves. Tom

Curtis, It is Eddie Fechter's from his 6-4-5 routine. Eddie got a lot of play from lay audiences with this one. It looked as close as one could get to real magic when he did it! The routine is published in full in "Fechter, The Magic of Eddie Fechter". Mike |

Any idea as to where one might get a copy of Fechter, The Magic of Eddie Fechter? regards, Adam

I would say Reed's new coins across (from what I've heard) or the one I use, Bob Kohler's Ultimate 3-fly. It is visual, clean and very, very strong... if you have the money to spend.
