Richard,
I emailed Ray a while back about taking over Tabman Tables. Tabby wanted me to buy it back then but I just didn't have the $$$$. I havent heard back from Ray. As you guys all know, Michael Baker and I were 'hand trained' by Tabby in his shop as well as via our friendships and meetings. Tabby would have been 67 this month . |

Good to see you hanging out on these boards, Rick. You've been somewhat scarce.
Hardly a day goes by that I don't feel Tabby's presence. So often I have wanted to ask him yet one more question, but I try to divert that melancholy state into a joy for what he gave me. I cannot say that I ever had contact with Gloria, or in fact, anyone else in his family. For anyone wondering what the heck PMZZ is, start here: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......forum=26 It was an amazing time! After that, The Workshop here was full of his wisdom and kindness.

I've been so focused on the new software company. In Tampa now, and was doing comedy magic at the clubs.
99% of Tabby's handcrafting secrets are in his Tabman Magic book. The other 1% is seeing Tabby do it firsthand. Very few got the training we did.. and we are still apprintiences to his work... But that 1% is what made his better than anyones. |

BTW, isn't it time we made Tabby President of PMZZ?

Krylon spray cans!?!? To think of all the hours I logged on the Binks 18 and DeVilbuss painting Naval aircraft in 21 years, and I could have been using Krylon. Oh well. Would that eliminate my eligibility for admission to PMZZ? If nott,I second the motion. Tabby for PMZZ Prez!
Ricker, thank you for passing the message to Gloria via Facebook. You may provide the link that lets us help her. It would be nice to maybe help get some cash flow for her.

Hey Pete,
Bear in mind that Krylon was lacquer formula when that whole thread started. They changed their formula since then and it is ravaged with problem. We had a cussfest for a couple years over that. ~michael

Ok Bob Sanders said he talked to her 3 weeks ago, so we know she's ok. Pete Biro and I are searching, we should be able to find out something in the next couple weeks.

Michael, I guess I had better admit that we did use mil spec spray cans for touch up of small areas until the 56 Day corrosion inspections rolled around. Or Zip Pak painters.
Was trying to remember all the types of paints we used: Enamel, Lacquer, Zinc Chromate, Epoxy Polymide Primer and Finish, Alaphatic Polyurethane (with forced air respirator) And of course the thinners: Toulene, xylene, MEK, T-MEK, alaphatic naptha. Wonder if any of these aphected mine brane funktions. When I was stationed with VF-84 in Oceana VA. and before the went to the low vis paint, whis is what I did. When the "Final Countdown" was filmed in '79, we had to paint all the aircraft with the nose number 202 because we never could be sure which bird would be ready to fly for the shots to be filmed. Skipper Andrews took Kirk Douglas up for a spin in the F-14, which Kirk weathered pretty well. Click here to view attached image.

Yes, I bought the eBook from Lybrary.com and thought it was great. I also tracked down Tabby's song "The Night Porter Wagoner Came To Town". Here is the link for those who have not heard it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2ikewqIvhI It's really worth a listen. We emailed a bit, mostly about his version of the card dagger. Wish I could have gotten to know him better.

Just thought I'd bump this to see if anyone has an update as it's been a while. Seems a shame this book hasn't yet seen the light of day given the love for Tabby, his work and the interest surrounding it.
Any info greatly appreciated. Nick

There has been no response from Tab Man's estate, relatives and friends. Many have reached out to offer assistance to bring the book to fruition, in addition to getting the orders filled.
If Gloria or the estate Executives are monitoring this post, I still offer my assistance in organizing, editing, typing as well as any thing else to get Tabby's Sefalajia book project finished. PM, or muleepete@infowest.com or 435-225-6322 Here's hoping.
