I am working on some new promo photos and adding content to my web site.

I just completed a photo shoot this past Friday; the shoot resulted in some great pics; I’m narrowing down my choices and you can find it at:

Post your opinions here

I prefer the pics where you are looking at the camera.

Thanks Manal,

Just me looking at the camera, or Dan my figure looking at the camera as well?

Buzz,

After not answering privately, I will publicly. You both should be looking at the camera for a standard shot. That way you are focused on the viewer of the pic. If the figure is looking off to one side or the gaze is not correct - it makes the character look like a(IMHO) dead doll. So - my pics would be:
http://s1224.photobucket.com/albums/ee36......_211.jpg (although the figure gazes slightly off center)
or

For whatever it is worth,

Hey Buzz,

For what it's worth, I like this one.

I think it gives a good overview of your act.

The replies have been very encouraging and overwhelming; I want to thank everyone for your assistance.

The advice to this point has directed me to disregard the images of just the magic and concentrate on selecting a photo of only Dan and me for my publicity photo.

Reading your comments resulted in the decision to go back to my file and import the remaining images of both of us looking at the camera.

I included the images from the first selection to the new selection for a complete comparison.

Again, thanks for your time, and any and all comments are greatly appreciated.

Individually for the time taken to look and comment on my photos, this is a very important segment of publicity; a bad photo is at times worse than no photo and I know it takes time to compare and comment,

So all that have and will comment, THANK YOU

Buzz -
Some of the pics aren't flattering to Dan, they make him look lifeless. I'm going to make a guess that you made the same mistake I did with my first photo shoot - you posed rather than animated the character. Of all the shots - I like:
http://s1224.photobucket.com/albums/ee36......_211.jpg
the best - you both have a friendly smile and even with Dan looking off a bit, it isn't bad.

I also liked the one of you two looking at each other, but you should have cheated forward rather than presented the side of your face.
Just thoughts for the next shoot!

I agree with Tom on the choice of pictures. I think you should dump the ones with the magic props in them. The tricks look amateurish and take away from the main point of the picture--YOU! I also think Dan should be looking either at the camera or you--better you. In my photos I've tried to portray an interaction between me and the puppets; it adds life to the picture. Notice how Tom's picture captures a moment in time; it is not static at all.

Thanks Tom and Bob for the feedback, I sent the picked photo in for retouching; I have requested that the eyes be repositioned so Dan is looking at the camera.

I did move Dan’s while shooting, the unfortunate results were, in the shots that Dan was looking at the camera were not flattering images of me.

I will post the results when the retouched image is returned to me.

Thanks

I like Number 9/15 and 10/15 They both tell a strong story about who you are and what you are offering.
They also show a variety of performance options.

I love the set it completes the theatrics.

Thank you Jimmy, when I first decided I wanted to learn to be a Ventriloquist and actually make a career of it, I had no interest in the magic side of the business.

I don’t have the experience and years of training as most full time professional’s have, and at my age I won’t be around long enough to gain that valuable experience.

Learning here in the Ventriloquist area of the Magic Café that very few Ventriloquist’s have the ability to keep a child’s attention with a figure alone for any length of time, I researched magic and found it to be fun for me to entertain children and make their eyes bulge as I pull the rabbit out of whatever I have him hidden in; so I decided I should be a Magician and a Ventriloquist.

I then came back here and made the bold announcement that I was going to use a rabbit in my act; Tom being the kill joy that he is, announced that I needed a permit from the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT…, respecting Tom’s knowledge, I called the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT and told them that I was only going to have a 3 pound little rabbit and I promise that I won’t pull the rabbit out of a hat by its ears. The FEDERAL GOVERNMENT told me that if I had a 3 pound cockroach I would not need a permit, but I need to obtain the same permit that Ringling Brothers Circus has to exhibit my little 3 pound rabbit in my act

I received the application and read that I can sell rabbits as well with my permit.

I started a program that the parents can buy the rabbit; I also supply the cage hay and food. I can produce the rabbit from mid air and call the parents up to present the rabbit to the child as an extra birthday surprise present.

So, this is why I had photos taken with the magic tricks, so I can advertise that not only am I the only Ventriloquist working in San Francisco, but I can also perform Magic tricks and sell you a rabbit at the same time.

Sorry it took so long to reply! I like picture #'s: 1 - 2 - 5 - 7 - 15. I see nothing wrong with a pic of you as a magician but I'd leave your vent figure out of that particular one (like you did). GREAT pictures, BTW!

Manal, I am sending the pictures that have me and Dan looking at the camera for retouching and then I intend to switch them as needed
