I figured out how to alter the Pearl Trap Table to use a much better top.
I had my table maker retrofit one of our tables so it fits on top of the Pearl Tripod. Now it's great for cups, coins, cards, etc. This one is about half the weight, much better looking, nice and sturdy, and the surface is to my specs. Now I can use it for stand-up, close-up, busking, etc.

Nice. I was just about to post a new thread about an easily portable table base. Keyboard stands are great, but too big for my travel constraints.
Also, I just had my first gig with my new buskers pouch. Love the pouch! |

Awesome, is this able to be ordered from you Frank? The whole set up?
BTW, I loved the pouch I got from you but after getting the Gazzo cups and dvd, I decided to spring for one of his so I do have one of Frank's street pouches for sale in the 4 sale section if anyone is interested. Anyway, pm about the table as that's the last thing I am looking into! Thanks! Chad |

Nice small footprint too.
More difficult for drunks to knock it into the street.

I'm not sure this exact setup is something that I would be selling unless you already have the Pearl Trap Table.
However, I am looking into tripods so that we can sell it like this as a kit. The tripod is very beefy, btw.

Cool. I have a Pearl trap table, and I just threw a close-up pad on it, but that is very nice. (And cutting down on the weight is a good thing...)

Yeah, I used to throw a close-up pad on top of it too when needed but obviously that's not a process I'd like to go thru. Also for higher-end close-up gigs the trap table top looks kinda junky. fine for the street tho.

What was wrong with the original top?

The original top is very heavy, has a fairly deep lip that makes loading in back and sight lines in front a bit of a challenge, is on the small side for a working area, and has a surface with absolutely no padding or give.

It's a hard surface covered by speaker cloth. Not an good surface for: cups, coins, cards, shells, ...
The tripod itself is quite sturdy and druable, adjustable up and down. Very nice. The table top is some composite that chips easily and is very heavy. It's still a good table without the modification for some things but I wanted to be able to use it for everything without having to bring yet another surface to put on top of it. I would often put one of our table tops on top of the pearl top when I wanted that kind of surface/look. Now I've reduced the weight significantly, it works better, looks better, and less to carry.

Frank, would you say that you would rate the Pearl Trap Table base above the Eureka Table base?
Is there any issue when using a tipod table like the Trap Table with a Kozmo or other servante because of the centralized center of gravity (as opposed to a tray stand or an X-frame?) What to you is the ultimate (weight, strength, usability) busking table? Thanks |

By "issue" above I mean "tipping" backwards- stability, etc. Thx

There's realy no issue with the Perl Trap table because it's so darn sturdy.
The tripod extends far and wide and it's awesome. You can hang heavy things off of it and it will not tip.
