How did I know that the mere mention of his name would snap the Ronald Reagan worshipers to attention?

Al wow big deal. You start to lie, and people correct you. Big deal. What was the price of dope under RR?

And Carrie, the whole idea of RR was TO SPEND AND SPEND because he KNEW the Soviets could not sustain it. He tricked them into spending into destruction. It worked.

The Obamamessiah is doing it now and it is killing us.

Al the only worshipers are of the Obamamessiah. Why don't you just accuse us of being high as well?

Danny, I'm not sure what you are accusing Al of. He correctly noted that President Reagan lowered taxes, then raised them on several occasions. The facts bear this out.

The net effect of his taxation policies are certainly up for legitimate debate. But Al spoke the truth.

I am accusing Al of being a troll and he admits it. I mean did taxes end up lower than when he started or higher? Lets be honest about it at least ok?

I am accusing him of cherry picking history just to bash others. He is a troll period.

And just for the record, stupidity does not "unhinge" me. It simply shows you for what you are. I do not hate anyone. Way too much emotion involved in that for me. You are not worth the time. You read WAY too much into words on the internet, and have a bloated view of your own self importance.

Big deal. There is ZERO evidence to suggest that Reagan's Tax cuts had anything to do with the doubling of tax revenues during his reign. Tax revenues typically double every ten years regardless.

Iet's look at the record:

From taxpolicycenter.org

Tax Revenue in 1950: $39 B
Tax Revenue in 1960: $92 B
Tax Revenue in 1970: $193 B

So it more than doubled (a 134% increase) during Eisenhower's 1950's with that Draconian 70% tax on the top income bracket

And it doubled the Kennedy/Johnson 1960's as well.

And during that 1970's a 168% increase in revenues.

Tax Revenue in 1990: $1,031 B

Tax Revenue in 2000: $2,025 B

So, it doubled. Even under those supposedly oppressive Clinton tax rates.

But look at this

Tax Revenue in 2010: $2,163 B

So that was only a 6.8% increase over 10 years. How could that be? Aren't tax reductions supposed to increase revenues? Isn't that the Reaganites mantra?

So let's look at the tax revenues again in 2010 dollars - http://www.usinflationcalculator.com/:

Tax Revenue in 1950: $357 B
Tax Revenue in 1960: $681 B - 91% increase
Tax Revenue in 1970: $1,084 B - 59% increase
Tax Revenue in 1980: $1,368 B - 26% increase
Tax Revenue in 1990: $1,722 B - 26% increase
Tax Revenue in 2000: $2,564 B - 49% increase
Tax Revenue in 2010: $2,163 B - 16% DECREASE

So again, Zero evidence to support your claim that Reagan's Tax policy had ANYTHING to do with increased revenues. Nice try though.

There are so many touchy people that come out of the wood work at the mere mention of his name.

I am not quite sure about reductions in regulation. Seriously I am just not certain this shows significant improvment in economics. I will fall on the side of lowering taxes, thus increasing revenue. Yep I think it works but simply don't have the time or energy to bash my head against the lib/socialist wall to worry about it. NOTHING you say will change their minds. Heck Al makes up stuff just to disprove it!

But I am not sure we have reached a tipping point on regulation. I am not sure as a blanket statement this works. I would have to research it FAR more than I am willing to I guess.

And I know you are not too swift with language, BUT to "come out of the woodwork" would be from a place of obscurity or seclusion. Those of us you bait by acting like this and intentionally calling RR names are here all the time so the idea that we "come out of the woodwork" is not really true right? Much like most of what you post, and most of your ideas it has no basis in reality or truth or history. Gotta admit you are consistant though. Here is a little help with the expression.

http://www.thefreedictionary.com/out+of+the+woodwork

For example many people who voted for your messiah had never voted before. They "came out of the woodwork" to vote. They were "secluded" and then voted. See how it works?

OK, just for the record, Ronald Reagan did not spend us into oblivion. Obama is doing that. Reagan's last deficits were on the order of 150 million dollars, declining from over 200 million dollars during his middle years. Accounting for inflation, that means today's deficit should be 280 million dollars. It's 1.6 trillion now, nearly six times larger!

So? The stock market as measured by the DJI is up TEN times since 1984.

It seems overly simplistic to assume that the growth of the deficit would align 100% with inflation.

What about the changing economy? Increasing population? Changing demographics (specifically the aging population) and how that affects government services? Increased military action?

Balducci sums up the problem with blanket answers from 30 years ago to problems today. That was a complex time prior to the advent of the internet. It is FAR more complex now and he lists only a minor shadow of the situation and makes the point perfectly.

There are not simple answers to complex problems. The economic health of a nation is quite possibly one of the MORE complex things bantered about and while most only hear about it in sound bites or through the favorie pundants it goes WAY deeper than this.

Heck look at the Presidents change in policy on drilling! First it won't help, then he brags about how much his administration has opened up exploration, yada yada yada. He is trying to play the sound bite game to each side and it is making him look like a position shifter. The issue is far more complex than his sound bite roster and he knows it.

Hopefully the messiah has a plan.
