What I like about Jeffries is his use of patterns. I first discovered his material about 15 years ago. It was the first time I had seen language used in that way. Even although I had had quite a bit of hypnosis and NLP training back then. His structure of language is sound and can be adpated for many applications. And it started me off in a direction that led me to learning a lot on persuasion and covet hypnosis.

As a younger guy I did give it ago and can tell you it does work. It also works in sales to.

But I am curious DM did you find your prince?

A lot of people feel sick because this mean rape accusing. Doing that should be a crime already. It's a genuine self fullfilling prophecy and contains gossip arguments. So please stop doing that.

It is as said before in this topic by Shrubsole, it's a tool. Like a knife can be used to cut meat but also to hijack an aeroplane. Should you forbid a knife then?

Hypno is also not a real drug. That is insane. It's a way of talking and contains a lot of suggestions, but radio and tv-commercials have a lot of suggestive competences too. Or yoga lessons ...

I think tv-commercials do more harm to a healthy world view and the society's opinion about love, sex & lust. Imagine the world as it was before 1950 and TV was not common back then.

I think if someone has a need he could use PUA and hypnotic competence. Most starting PUA's are inept at the communicative part. Yeah and you can take advantage of it even when it's unnecessary.

There are much more wrong guys on the street you wouldn't trust your daughter to. These guys have never used any hypno but they can bring young girls in deep trouble. I guess the problems with hypno and seduction are not much bigger as with drinking and seduction. It happens but on a small scale.

Stop worrying about PUA, hypno NLP and girls.

I remember hearing a radio interview with Richard Bandler and he was asked about Ross Jefferies and he said that he didn't believe that the techinques worked to suduce women, but rather gave the person enough to act confident and he believed this was what made them attractive to the girls. As for the using the hypnotic techniques to gain sex, in the UK at least the case law is very clear that it is rape! I actually had this conversation with a very good friend of mine who is training to be a barrister.

What part of "you" in "you have to kiss a lot of frogs to find a prince" didn't you understand?

I have to say, the whole PUA stuff makes me half sad, half angry... I think it sells to young guys with little confidence in approaching people they find attractive and sells them a false-promise/dream...

What makes you sad or angry Iain? The facts its a "false dream?" Seriously how do you know its a false dream. I can tell you it isn't. I played around with the Ross's stuff many years ago and can tell you it works. I used to get into all kinds of trouble. I even had a couple of stalkers. It works even online. It also works in other contexts to a degree.

Its false in the sense that you become something else other than "you"...its inauthentic to get existential about it...

embrace the fact that you are whoever you are - I never said it didn't work, but the idea behind it and how it all works is pretty distasteful to me...whether it works or not isn't really the point...

far healthier to accept who you are, and revel in it - for me its a morals thing...

I see lots of very shy and awkward young guys go the PUA and hypnosis route cos they think its the magic bullet - but its not, in my opinion...

I never said it was a magic bullet I said it works. And it works on a number of levels. You see you are never your behaviour or the dominant thoughts you run through your mind. Yet your behaviour and those thoughts determine to a great extent where you end up in a situation. Shyness is not what a person is its what they do inside and out. While I agree its not good not to relax and be yourself I also believe going through a phase of learning and applying this stuff enriches who you are.

To a degree or less it becomes part of your behaviour and thoughts even after you dump it. Experience of success and confidence spreads to other areas of your life also. I only talk about Ross's stuff because that's the only one I really looked at.

But surely for shy guys or guys that talk about the wrong things - learning to talk about what interests women can only be a good thing for them. Lots of guys need help. Staying themselves ( usually a series of programmed behaviour and beliefs that don't serve them) is not really that good an option.

Always room for improvement certainly...

I'm saying that these guys are being sold a magic bullet...and it doesn't always align in their minds really...a lot of the PUAs I've seen are just plain creepy...

I don't see many of these PUAs (and certainly not in The Game) advocating talking to women about subjects that interest them, its more about enforcing situations to then enable you to apply a certain line of bulls**t that works on certain types of women...

from what I've seen/heard/read - not many are genuinely interested in teaching these guys "life skills" and giving them the confidence they feel they need...its about "getting" something..whatever it is...

they don't have to bring sh*gging into it either...

Sh*gging is the door the niche which they sell too. I don't know Iain you might be right about the majority of PUA's I like Ross's stuff because it was an education in conversational hypnosis which formed a foundation for a lot of other stuff I learned later. I had a lot of fun also with women. Not just sex. I guess its down to personal morals whether you abuse it or not. But like most things in life I do believe in Karma it will and does come back and bite you in the bum if used to try and decieve someone.

No, they're not teaching life skills. But just because they don't say, "we're giving you confidence" doesn't mean that isn't what they're doing. By supplying losers with gimmicks, basically saying "use this technique and you'll get lucky," they are giving their users a type of confidence of "I've got the magic bean so I can't fail" type of confidence. It's misplaced confidence--in the bean/gimmick rather than in themselves--but it is confidence.

And yes, it is a numbers game. Try the gimmick on enough victims and eventually somebody will fall for it. Do you really think you would be getting all of those emails from Nigeria if asking enough people and getting one or two to respond didn't work?

I can only speak for Ross's material and although some of it isn't that good - the core of what he does is pretty solid. Actually Ross does say he is giving you confidence he has a whole section on developing unstoppable confidence. I think he even had separate products out at one time just around confidence.

I can't see how giving someone gimmiks that don't work would breed confidence. If anything it would ruin confidence.

I don't get the reference to Nigeria. Maybe Im just a loser.

funnily enough, I went on a PUA forum last night to see what kinda thing gets discussed, and it re-inforced what I already thought... I think quite a few PUA courses give a false confidence, selling their techniques to people they know full well won't actually use them...

I found an hour and a half talk from some guy - and ethically I found it gruesome...

each to their own I know...but hey, forums are for sharing your own thoughts...

on a wider note, the problem I have with a lot of guys who learn it - don't really do anything interesting with it...or rather, the guys that I have seen don't do anything very interesting with it...

I'm treading on eggshells here, I forget how sensitive some of you are over the subject(s)!

I agree with both you and DM. But there are a lot on here that buy hypnosis and mentalism products and will never use them.

As for ethics... I think this is a youg guys attitude to women. I remember in my late teens most of my mates were like this long before I was ever aware of any PUA courses. Although I believe older guys buy them too.

Again its just a reflection of a ready made market. I think women have their own versions too.

Sometimes possessing a certain 'je ne sais quoi' can actually hold you back from learning.
But it's not really je ne sais quoi. Rather way KNOW what it is; self-honed skills, a way with words, a developed personality and of course a natural attractiveness.
So until a few days ago I'd never even heard of the term PUA.
Of course most of you guys know all about it huh?
I've also had a closer look at Ross Jeffries and have come to the conclusion that he's not using hypnosis or even any form of NLP.
Nope, I'm pretty sure his is a chloroform job! I mean, c'mon, that dude is a virgin!
I'm probably one of the finest hypnotists this side of the Pecos, but I could never get a woman to enter a room with him in it.

Believe it or not I used that along with some other stuff on a lecturer when I was doing a UNI degree. She asked me to take the communication class one afternoon. I ended up anchoring an orgasm to her knee. All I had to do was look at her knee and she had an orgasm in front of the class! She said she kept touching her knee while driving into UNI for weeks after. And she started to invite me up to her room for coffees. I declined since her hubby was also a lecturer at the same Uni. Was many years ago now. There was other ambigiuties if I rember? For example "its amazing how your mine works". Mine being subsituted for mind while explaining how the mind works etc etc etc.

I remember once writing an email to a female I had met online. It was really cold readinng interlaced with some of Ross's stuff. Her pc wasn't working at the time and she had her friend read her emails for her. I got a phone call from the friend telling me she thought we were made for each other. Ive had women fighting over me in bars etc etc. I stoopped playing around with it many years ago its dangerous stuff once you start meddling with it. It gets out of control.

The mind boggles at how you managed to anchor an orgasm to the knee!
