Bobser starts off with a great point, then good advice. (I mean that seriously bobser)

If he didn't know you he would say don't do it. His idea of table hopping first is good also.

The idea is frought with perils from jump. bobser hits most of them. It is not about skill level or any stupid measuring contest, it is about a bride and groom having a special day. You have been asked to make it very special. If it does not turn out great, it has an impact on them. My caution is only to think of that. It has NOTHING TO DO with your ability, it has to do with making darn sure they have a great day.

Gareth is a very good friend of mine, a member of Adam Eason's hypnotherapy school and a very studious Hypnotherapist. He has been INVITED to perform a short piece at a friends wedding and has come on here to ask for practical advice. Most of you have slapped him in the face as if he were a wayward child. He is a thoughtful and ethical person who wants some ideas on what he could integrate. Either give some ideas or shut up. We all get that some on here don't like anythig that appears different to their classic stage approach.. We don't need to see it in every thread.

Try having at least a modicum of respect for other performers, especially when you know little or nothing about them.

James Brown

Gareth asked for ideas stating he really doesn't know what to do with the guests. Plus he's never done a wedding before. He even said he wasn't a performer. I don't see any reference to stage hypnosis being made on here? We can only know from what he posts. It seems that you know him better than he does.

I think some of the advice you want to shut up is quite good advice for anybody to "consider" and the very least keep in mind. I don't see it relating to the stage? He can choose from the variety of posts. I don't see how you have the authority to tell anyone to "shut up".

This an open forum if you don't like it talk to Gareth privately. Other than that you are coming over as a thug.

As Bobser says this a real weight on his shoulders. Its something I wouldn't want
to do nevermind anyone else. I have been INVITED to perform in all sorts of situations some even well paid which I declined. Just because you are invited doesn't always mean you must.

Whatever Gareth decides I hope it goes well for him.

Yes, Bobser makes some great points, and I disagree with Zerububle as we have offered some good, legitimate advice here. I really don't care for the "luring them in as they'll think it's magic" approach, and what Bobser describes seems that it will take a great deal of time to go to each table and then start to get into the hypnosis material. Again as I and most others have suggested this seems like too much for a wedding, especially from an inexperienced performer in this specific wedding situation.

As I said earlier there are many elements working against you that even an experienced pro hypnotist would more than likely have difficulties with. The best advice is to decline.

My other question is why hypnosis? If you are relatively new, with little or no experience as a hypnotic performer who self-admittedly "dabbles in hypnosis and a bit of magic (I won't go there but the inexperience shows - how does one dabble in hypnosis?) why even attempt hypnosis for your own sake and reputation as well as the Bride & Groom, and the other guests? The simple answer is if you were "asked to do something", do some magic. It's much more universal, more mass-appeal to kids, adults and the overall family dynamic of a wedding reception and can be much easier attenuated to a specific time segment or period. To me in this situation, the is the clearly obvious, easy answer.

Yea I did think "shut up" was sort of thuggish. I mean why is it that when someone hears advice they don't want to, it is automatically shut up with the street hypnosis guys?

The advice given is great. Bobser himself offered some of the same advice we did, yet because it comes from him the street guys are ok with it. Not really the best way to learn is it?

Ummmm I wonder what advice Zerububle can get from the self-elected masters of hypnosis on here anyway?
I mean he is already a well known, highly respected magician, hypnotist and pick-pocket with some best selling DVDs to his name and many professional shows under his belt with many more bookings.

The fact is that someone will never be seen as good as the self-elected self-important one on here unless they do exactly as they say. And that normally means that if you are anything other than a stage hypnotist you are no one in their eyes. And probably affecting their bookings.

Oh and not that it's what he is known for but when I saw Mr Zerububle he was hypnotising someone and he was standing on a stage! Does that count? (Probably not as they don't want it to)

All this self-promotion of the elect few and their instant discrediting of anyone that only they consider not a part of their gang is getting beyond laughable.

All I know is that whatever they think they have to offer, due to their bad obnoxious attitude, I don't want to learn it and do just fine without it. (And that really stamps on their little egos.)

Actually you are really the only problem here. You are the one obnoxious, you are the one with an attitude and a fragile ego. But hey keep it up. I am sure your life will be a magical one.

Great, I agree you have nothing to learn here, so why keep coming back just to hear yourself babble on with the same old stuff. In every single post you make you show your lack of understanding for the topics in this forum. I have never (and more than likely ever will) lose a single penny to anyone due to or related from street hypnosis. What a joke.

People are just coming here to see how much more ignorance and lack of understanding you will bring. It's a shame that you have to hijack each and every post with the same nonsense. If you disagree,...WAIT, I'm sorry, I am moving this post to a new thread SHRUBSOLE'S VERY OWN THREAD - please go there to continue this post.

Because I wish to and do not and never will require or be asking for your permision to do so.

That delusion you had that you own this forum and tell people what they can and can't post and whether they should come here or not and when, is sadly only in your head.

Funny how I get accused of hijacking a thread and posting the same thing when with thread a starter in hypnosis starts they get talked down to and in no uncertain terms made to feel not welcome at all by the 'gang'.

You offer no help apart from rudely posting "Get some training!" in every newbie thread without helping or explaining.

Change the record!

MP calling me a "liar". What have I lied about oh Big One?

You don't know a single thing about me and I have made no claims so your answer is going to have to be a good one!

I quite agree with Mr Doyle. There seems to be a lot of acrimony in this section. I was once told that all stage hypnotists are quite mad. So far this section is proof of that assertion. I really think that some of you need a good hypnotherapist to control your tendency to disgraceful behaviour.

Seems as if I was right it was you LOL.

I am glad they let you use the name now.

I hope your book sales go well. Incidently folks Mark has a new book out called "Lives of a Showman" or some such thing. I have not read it but I can testify to having actually seen him working on it. I know for a FACT he is a gifted writer. A pain in the neck and lower regions, but a gifted writer is true.

He is what I would call a "magic journeyman". He does kids shows, close up restaurant work, hypnosis shows, and psychic readings. Oh and a fantastic pitchman. Probably what he does best. Svengali. If you wanna learn how to do it, his book is the way. Not the new book, but his Svengali pitch book. So the book should have some interesting stories from many sorts of situations.

If you enjoy books more without tricks and techniques, and just want to read a book about a guy who has gotten by in our business for decades, I think it would be worth the price to see what is between the covers.

That being said Mark, after you sell your books and have no reason to control yourself, how long do you think it will be before you are banned again?

I think the only way to annoy Mark would be to not ban him.

I used to have a dog with a hair lip that would scream Mr. Lewis's name at the top of it's voice when it wanted some biscuits:

"Mark...Mark... Mark Mark Mark... Mark!

I'm told you're a funny man Mr. Lewis. But are you as funny as THAT???!!!

Welcome back Mark. Finally we will get some sanity in this room!
