Hi All
I am looking for an alternative to Bill in Lemon, and have looked at Bill in cigar routines. Bodine Balasco does a really good one, - does anyone knows if this is Mike Caveney´s routine from Magicomedy? http://www.bodinebalasco.com/videos/ What about the Miracle Signed Bill In A Borrowed Cigar by Robert Olson?? Best regards! Kristian Skovbo Denmark |

Yes, Bodine Balasco is performing Mike Caveney's routine.

Hi guys,
I am very interested in the Bill in Cigar effect, but I couldn't find Mike Caveney's book anywhere. I know it is not morally ok, but is anyone willing to send me that part of the book via e-mail and I am going to pay him some bucks? Matthew

Matthew, please search the net. Used copies of the book can still be found at auction and, occasionally, at used book dealers as well. Here are a couple of current links:

Thanks Mr Chayce!
But 100 dollar for one effect, even tough I don't know if I'll use this method is a little but too much. Thanks anyway for your help!

Is the routine by Mike Caveney similar to Jim Steinmeyer's routine in his book Design & Illusions? Because I own this book.
And what about the Miracle signed bill in borrowed cigar? Thanks a lot!

I'll need to check the Steinmeyer book when I get home (btw, the correct title is Device and Illusion), but as I recall the routines are somewhat similar in that they each involve a bill ending up in a cigar, but the methods are different.

Okay, I took a look at the routine in Device and Illusion (entitled "Smoke and Fire") and my earlier recollection was correct. The only thing this routine and Mike Caveney's routine have in common is the effect: a borrowed, signed bill is made to vanish and then is discovered inside a cigar. The routines (i.e., the presentations) themselves are quite different, as are the methods.

Kristian and mattmagic149,
There is a similar effect in Tarbell, I have the electronic version from the lybary.com. It is on page 763. very close to the Bodine video, of course some modification to use a cigar, but esentially the same result. The Tarbell Course download is only $39.00 US. http://www.lybrary.com/tarbell-course-p-34.html Here is the link. A great publication to have in your library. Good luck! John Retired
