The mention of a Scott Baio vehicle in another thread made me think of how for every "Frasier" there are dozens of "Joanie Loves Chachi"s... best/worst/fastest cancelled/better known than the original series spin-off shows, anyone?

One of the worst, "Highlander: Raven"
Also bad: Every CSI spin-off. One of the best: The Colbert Report. Neutral: The Cleveland Show.

Maude, spin-off from All In The Family. Two great shows.
Jefferson's as well.

Didn't they spin off a show for the Joey character from "Friends" that went over like a lead balloon?

Yeah, Joey was awful.

Although it enjoyed some success, and still turns up in syndication, I never liked "Mayberry R.F.D." And speaking of Ken Berry, "Mamas Family" was a spinoff of the Carol Burnett show.

Another I like better than the original show is Angel, spun off from Buffy. Also loved Count Duckula, from Danger Mouse.
Curious about opinions on the following: Good Times. Baywatch Nights. Melrose Place. A Different World. The Pebbles and Bamm Bamm Show. Kung Fu: The Legend Continues. After M*A*S*H Speaking of Frasier, does anybody remember "The Tortellis?" Better known than the original: Saved by the Bell, from Good Morning Miss Bliss. Beavis and Butt-Head, Daria, Aeon Flux, all from Liquid Television. The Andy Griffith Show, from Make Room for Daddy. Sesame Street and The Muppett Show, from Sam and Friends. Twilight Zone, from Desilu Playhouse. Also the Untouchables from this. Equal to the original: Xena: Warrior Princess. Viva La Bam and Wildboyz. LA Ink. The Bionic Woman. Debatable: Star Trek: TNG.

Hockey Night in Canada used to be one game every Saturday evening, and it was a real treat. There's now so ***ed much sports on TV it's hard to care about any of the games. During the regular season, virtually every night is hockey night in Canada, and I don't care.
All those other telecasts, I disparage as failed spinoffs. John

Now we have Sunday Night Football, Monday Night Football, Thursday Night Football. I think if Godell had his way there would be a game every night of the week during the season. |

Boston Legal is a great show, and a spinoff. I'm not sure it makes it a great spinoff, but what the hell... I'll mention it.

Mark my words, they're planning on making a spin-off of Bones, featuring the ex-FBI "finder" guy and his team, who showed up last season. I never saw anything so obvious as a set-up for a spin-off as that episode.

One of the best exchanges in the history of TV sitcoms. From the Andy Griffith show.
Andy: Say, you, uh, ain't had any luck findin' a job, huh? Gomer: No, but I'm goin' over to the market, now. They're advertisin' for an experienced butcher. Andy: Do you know anything about cuttin' meat? Gomer: You think they'll ask me that? |

There are a lot..
Mork and Mindy came from Happy Days, as did Laverne and Shirley. The Jeffersons was from All in the family. There was one called Grady or something like that from Sanford and son. Married with Children tried to have several spin offs without success. I can't think of many right now, but I have before. There are a lot no one has mentioned. Randi |
