Four Told by Devin Knight
There is a thread under Latest and Greatest on this effect that is worth reading. But for those who don't venture that far south, here are my thoughts on it. For folks information. I bought this effect. It was not given free or in exchange for any favour or reward. You show four people a chart with coloured ESP symbols on. They each think of a symbol. The audience can play along if they wish. They don't write anything down, they don't speak, they don't nod their heads, raise their hands. They think, and they visualise. The magi starts to get some random thoughts coming through. He asks them to visualise some more. More thoughts come through, different ones. It seems some of them coming from the audience are being picked up as well. The magi tries to concentrate only on the four people on stage, as they make their chosen symbol as clear in their mind as possible. He hands face down cards to the four helpers. He asks the first one what symbol were they visualising. They say Circle. They turn over the card they've been given. It is indeed a circle. Now the second helper. They name their symbol and their card too matches. This is the same for all the four people on stage. After great applause the magi points to someone in the audience, "You were thinking of a star weren't you?" He's correct. "And you sir were thinking of a square, is that right?" Again spot on This is IMHO what mindreading should look like. You think of something, I tell you what you are thinking of. I've bought a few of Devin Knights' effects. Some I've liked, some I haven't. This one is in a different league altogether. Simple and direct. It uses your mind. If you say to them "I will use the power of my mind to try and tell what you are thinking." You will be telling the truth, because that is exactly what you do. As if that wasn't enough, there's an advanced version that's more direct than described above. This, for me is a must-have effect. regards Steve |

Steve, here you beat me... but I've ordered it also (not received yet). So far I know I've to second all you said. Although I think to know Devin's "road" his approach and subtleties seem to be so good, so clever and very interesting! Jan

It would be very boring if you won every time. But when it arrives this effect will wipe away any sadness you may be feeling. Steve |

Sounds very good, Steve. The only question I have is who is this "magi" guy you mention in your description?

Sorry about that.
I was being a little self indulgent there. My daughter (who's Dutch) is trying to write English at the moment and that's as far as she can get with magician. She doesn't know mentalist yet Just a little in- joke with myself ( sad I know, but then I never claimed to be normal) she can manage Tovenaar no problem Steve |

So does everyone get a pdf of this when they order it in addition to being shipped the product?
Some people hear voices.. Some see invisible people.. Others have no imagination whatsoever.

Hi All,
I concur with Steve's view. If this were Salem, Massachusetts in 1692, they would surely burn you after seeing you perform "Four Told." Regards, Steve

Oh this isn't fair, why, when I'm trying to save money to people have to keep releasing all this interesting sounding stuff? Well, that's done it, this'll have to go on my shopping list now.

I know what you mean.
I've just committed myself to 3000 euros of sound gear, so I think this was my last buy for a while. I just hope people take this summer off and save any more new releases until Christmas. (Hmm what about tabla mentis in November. Doh!) Steve |
