A glass walk, when presented well can look good but the others, nope not my thing at all.

As far as pain effects go, smash-and-stab-whilst-not-paying-attention seems to be quite popular ;-)
This kind of effect is not something I do a lot of but I do love the utterly horrific nature of the thread through stomach effect. Blockhead I have played with and the impact should not be underestimated. Pretty sure there is a section of the forum specifically for these kinds of effects? Not saying I don't want you here, but if you ask there you might find some more focussed replies: we're all mind readers here right? (I guess the cross-over point is Derren's Slap-Me-Button-Savant routine) Phill

I have to go for a glass walk. It gets a great reaction, is easy to do, and I always carry a briefcase of broken glass in the van for emergencies.

I agree with Steve. Throw a steel wolf trap on the table and use it to break some pencils, then stuff your hand in it. Set it up right and people will scream!
