"I have some questions.
McDonald's is sponsoring your tour. As I understand based on another thread, you are looking for stagehands, a promoter and a producer. How would you even know what the tour would cost without having these people on board? Have you scheduled venues? Discussed promotion, target audience, logistics, expenses etc? How did you convince McDonald's to agree to fund a tour that hasn't been fully planned?" Im not going to say how much they sponsored but it is more than enough to have money left over. The contract that we signed states "Blake Alexander will provide receipts of all costs and expenses made before and after the show" this is because I gave them a ball park of what those particular things would run. Illusions, lighting, theater costs, advertising, insurance, everything other than lighting design and what I'm looking for is not added in but given extra funding for. |

Sounds like someone at McDonalds has been breathing in too many fumes from the deep fat fryer What-on-earth kind of contractual agreement is that? I'm not being funny here, this is a serious question :
Do your parents or family own the McDonalds franchise and they're willing to "sponsor you" in order to help you get your career started? If that's the case then that's great, you're in a good position. Other than that scenario, I find it hard to believe that anyone from the McDonalds company would, or indeed COULD get involved with being associated with anything so vague. |

I've done some work for McD's and they expect it laid out to the last penny...as does every other corporation. If they contracted you on a "ballpark" estimate...I hope you put their phone numbers somewhere safe.

Hence what is in the contract I can not state, other than what I quoted and lawsuits can be filed if I do not fulfill the requirements asked. |

No my famly does not but the franchise owner of the 8 McDonalds is a close family friend and one of the most respected franchise owners within the corporation, that is why the word was passed on from him to the corporation. He is sponsoring me out of his own pocket and Mcdonalds is funding the rest of what I needed. |

Nuff said. Thanks for explaining it. Sounds like a great opportunity to get footage and testimonials. How many shows / places in the tour?

Having a close family friend that owns 8 franchises makes sense. Make the most of this opportunity. I wish you luck with your career. I will make one other observation before I go - I find it amusing how this thread evolved from you wanting to know how to get corporate work, to us congratulating you on a corporate sponsored tour in two days! That's positive action! Tom |

Yes thank you I do appreciate those that did eventually help and congratulate me. This is the last time I will be posting on the Café for a while because of these issues it's just ridiculous I have talked to well known builders about this site and all three of these renowned builders have said it's a bunch of bs with people that try to bring you down. I will still be checking pms but that about it so once again thank you to those that did help and those that didn't I'd rather not say. I will be back on with a post when I have my promotional video to prove (those that doubted me) wrong. Expect that in mid January.

Yea each one of those "renowned builders" are trying to sell you something! Of course they want to encourage you. If you want someone to tell you exactly what you want to hear, go to a magic builder with cash. That is the best way certainly.
Again I say I have tilted at this windmill too long already. My donkey and I are moving along. HIGH HO DONKEY.............AWAYYYYYYYYYYY

Yea I mean if you want someone to blow smoke up your but, go buy a car, a timeshare, a house or join a gym. It is cheaper than a magic builder!
I mean there are just thing you don't do. Don't take advice like this from a guy who has a stake in your buying his stuff. Also, don't play cards with a guy not using his own money! (another story sorry)

Same exact thing happened on a parallel “How to get Corporate Gigs” thread recently…
There are some guys giving unrealistic feedback on the Café of course. And their are some guys trying to help in a constructive way. But that’s pretty much the same everywhere (unless you're paying them to say nice things.) Many magic clubs watch you massacre some routine then slap you on the back and say "great job" either out of ignorance or misplaced support. Is that what is expected here now, only half baked options and not true guidance? What boggles the mind are the number of guys (some younger than others) who sincerely ask for advice and assistance, then fight back tooth and nail when someone responds. Is it a question they're asking or merely for validation? If the latter whey not skip the "?" marks altogether? Two-Cents, Walt |

Half the time I think people ask just for ego gratification.
I mean if you don't like the answer, fine, but that does not mean the advice is wrong.

Danny you forgot to mention not to forget to go to a hotel with someone who can record you, walk into an event and start performing for people after the event they came to is over and when the people get up and they're starting to walk away you can get your footage and make it look like you were hired for the event by performing for people in hotels.

The footage helps tremendously at the arraignment.

Not only at the arraignment, but helps in the prosecution for trespassing, and is very important in the lawsuit for using images for commercial use without permission.
And the publicity you may get in the news is golden |
