Hey Matt, seems very quick to be selling it seeing as you only just got it!! Do you have any thoughts on it, good points or bad points etc? Is there a reason why you are selling this so quickly after receiving it.
Would be interested to hear your thoughts on IR.

That said, I'm hoping to start seeing some unbelievably awesome reviews up here before the end of the week And, more good news! I'll be sending out the rest within 12 hours! I finished off quality controlling all the orders today and will be heading to the post office first thing: hurrah! Thank you all so much for your patience! If you want to get started- here's the "move" (if you want to call it that) that you can start practising... Also, we've had such positive responses on this thread, let's mix it up and talk about potential problems! A) Keep the quarter "loaded" in your deck as soon as your done. This will keep it "ready" in your pocket with no problems. Like this: B) It's heavy! I keep it in my pocket at all times, but if you find it bearing down- it fits into a Card Carrier (on your belt). I've also received a PM from a great friend who has a holder design I'll be looking at. Mine though? In my front pocket whenever I leave the house. C) Lastly, and most importantly- the secret. Like all magic, there is a secret to this effect. Booooooo! I wish it were real magic, lol. But I have had 100% success rate with this effect. To a spectator, this is a steel block. Period. I have handed this out so many times it's not even funny and not a single person has a clue as to how I can push a steel quarter through the block. I encourage everyone to perform this as much as possible for real people- as I would love to hear similiar feedback! Be fearless and enjoy the reactions! All my best, jamie

Still haven't received mine but it seems to me that this should be presented (like most magic) as a miracle rather than a "challenge" or puzzle to determine the secret. Spectators can inspect the block obviously, but just like MP it should be a casual afterthought and not as a challenge to see if they can find the secret sauce.
The size and crazy heft of what spectators will find in their hand has got to be an eye popping moment! Jamie - Does the Bicycle box come with the unit? If so the one you picture is the Canadian version from USPCC that is slightly different from the American version of the box. No matter of course and nobody will care - I happen to like those boxes as you can't buy 'em like that here in the USA.

I think it's one of those things where, if you know what to look for, it can smack you up the face, lol. But, and this is key, the specs not only don't know what to look for but they're not looking in the first place! What's to look at? It's a chunk of steel! And just so you get an idea of my mechanics, here's a cheat sheet: 1) I've handed them the quarter and reveal the block. 2) After the reveal, I hand them the block. 3) When I hand them the block, I hand it to them horizontally. 4) After about 10 seconds, I laugh (casually) and hand them the cardbox (which is Canadian, lol) for them to take. 5) I extend my other hand and they instinctively hand me the block back. 6) They have the box and quarter, I have the block. 7) After they've inspected those (and everyone pushes the quarter through the empty cardbox- I have no idea why, lol), I ask for the box back and tell them to hold onto the quarter. 8) I put the block back into the case, hand it to them and ask them to try. 9) When they can't, I tell them not to feel bad as I've been hitting the gym pretty hard and have superhuman strength, plus I'm a magician 10) Retrieve it and put into your pocket. Again, the secret can only be seen if they know what to look for- I just never let them get even close to that mental place! It's a bit of audience management, I guess, but I'm never worried about it. Even when I've told people how it worked (quality control testing), they couldn't manage it... Hope that helps! Thanks for PM Jamie. Your post above pretty much sums it up! I haven't had mine delivered yet but the last item I ordered only took 4 days to the UK from Canada (that was last week) so fingers crossed!
I spent my lunch hour yesterday working out pocket management for my new walkaround set which is to include IR. I want to have mine in my outside suit jacket but I was watching a DVD (Stev Dela's Work and Play) and he recommends a JOL leather card case with a belt loop as he doesn't like to have his pockets bulging. This could be another way to carry your IR deck (although not sure if you could store it in the case with a quarter in it, will have to get back to you on that!)

So I got one of the first ten of these things and rehearsed the heck out of it. After playing (practicing and rehearsing) with it for several days I felt confident enough to try it out in public for real (and paying) folks. Let me say that I haven’t performed it enough to have my lines established yet but I can offer an initial take on my very limited experience with the prop. I would say that my routine is serviceable but in its infancy.
First of all for those concerned about a spectator being able to “work” the gimmick I’ll say it hasn’t happened yet. Jamie has outlined a handling that seems to take the heat off the prop. I did ding a table top letting the block drop from about two feet. My bad! Lucky it was in a pub and the table top was already pretty dinged up. LOL!! One routine I performed (this past Saturday night) had me performing the coin in bottle following Industrial Revelation. The block of steel sat ignored on the table as I went into the bottle routine. It truly put the heat on the coin. I was ready to perform the bottle through table but decided to end with everyone examining the coin. In all it plays well for me! The only problem I have had (once) was that I managed to “unset” the prop as I took it out of my pocket! Talk about a red face! The coin wouldn’t go through! I opened the end of the box and saw the block pretty much solid. I just locked it and let it slide out of the box making a joke of it. Then I went right into the coin in bottle routine. Frankly that is what gave me the idea to follow Industrial Revelation with the coin in bottle. This is a well made and deceptive prop. It is heavy! It is easily (but not instantly) reset. However it does take a private moment to do so. I wouldn’t perform it at every table walking around but would save it for that special table or two. If I had two I’d do an instant repeat of the routine (simple in the pocket box switch) and totally leave the know-it-alls in the dark. I am thinking about making a belt hanging pocket/holster to hold the thing since it is so heavy that it tends to pull down my jacket. Or perhaps a simple shoulder holster thingy to look as if I am going into my jacket’s inside breast pocket. Love the prop! It works for me.

Martin Breese came up with such a strong handling for the Coin Through Glass (by Martin and Stephen Tucker) that he wound-up having the apparatus/boxes manufactured WITHOUT the gimmick. It sounds like Martin's approach might work with the IR when there's a mishap in front of a real audience of non-magicians. Julie |

If anyone has a source on belt card carrier's I'd love to hear about it! That will be my preferred way of carrying it I believe as it's so heavy.....let's just say I'm glad I wear a belt!!

I have a HC Holster and I love it. Unfortunately there's only 2 spots for cards and they are already occupied with a standard deck and an ID. (Unless you get a custom one.)

Or you could get an extra case as an add-on?
I think the JOL Case is the best idea for this as long as the leather can stretch enough to accommodate the quarter in the case.

The Pro Carrier carries the deck in a horizontal position which could be troublesome if it can't accomadate the quarter stored the way Jamie suggests.
I have a couple of these carriers and will be able to report back when my IR shows up. Sammy P.S. The JOL master distributor, Craig Dickson, will be at "Magic in the Rockies" in September. I bet he'll have some of the JOL card carriers with him.

STOP IT! Right now. Seriously. All of you have officially given me a complex that I must wear my pants too tight, LOL.
My pocket doesn't sag! Did I turn into a hipster overnight? I need to go look at myself in the mirror for a while. On the serious side of town... Joshua Jay's Pro Carrier would work perfectly. It's made to hold 2 decks and, as you can see, it has store IR with the quarter in the loaded position, no problemo. On a side note, I used this Carrier for almost 10 years! or something crazy. I had it on the outside of my bag, back when I was a bicycle messenger (where Magic Friday was born), through every kind of weather imaginable, and it's still ticking. Hope that helps! ~jamie

Got mine today!
When I reached for the package in my mailbox I thought "Whoa, that thing's heavy!" The packaging is beautiful, but the steel block is even more so. It worked flawlessly, and looks great when revealed. Of course, the only thing that really matters is the reaction this gets in performance. I can't wait to get it out there in the real world and see how it goes over. The Joshua Jay Pro Carrier holds it great, as Jamie mentioned above. I will probably switch the box out for a U.S. 808 box. I bought 30 red 808 decks when I learned that they would no longer be available. Thanks Jamie. I'm looking forward to the journey! Sammy
