It can be heard if you're not careful and the room is very quiet. I just make sure that the room is never quiet when I'm about to show the block! I am always saying sojmething about what the specs think is in the box; then again I'm pretty sure I would be doing that anyway so this isn't really done purposely to hide anything. If my IR was tested or pre-adjusted at the factory it was made to be very tight... which can equal 'noisy'. But very manageable and not a problem as I see it.
Thanks! Jim |

I'm one of those silent shy types who doesn't post much but has gotten a lot out of the Café! My IR arrived recently in Australia and I have performed it for family and friends so far. Despite the great reviews I was one of those people that was worried that the method could be detected upon visual inspection or simple examination. I didn't think something could be that well made but IR is! Mine arrived indicating that it was given a quality check by Jamie. I want to add my thanks to Jamie for releasing this:) I am following another poster's suggestion. I let my spectator remove the coin and then I place the coin in my pocket. When I do dump the block in their hands they are indeed more concerned with the coin and card case!
...a suggested patter line: "We learn a trick and then we are told we can't reveal the secret! A good magician never reveals the secret! The pressure, the weight of it all! Well I'm going to let you in on a secret. I wanted you to think that I had a pack of cards in the case. But the truth is, and I hope this doesn't come as a shock, I don't have any cards in the case. Here feel this. (I place case into their hands). It's obvious there are no cards in there, right? (Then I pick up case again and dump block into their hands). That's a weight off...I feel so much lighter." If you want to milk it a bit more as your putting it away: "Thanks for allowing me to share that with you. What do they think we are made of? Steel?!" |

Here's something I came up with to make it play a little longer and add some comedy build up. "And now for something completely different...a coin trick with cards. I have a deck of coins (fan 3 identical coins). Pick a coin, show everyone but don't show me. Put it back in the deck. Remember your coin (I shuffle the coins and put them in my pocket) Wouldn't it be amazing if the coin you picked appeared in a deck of cards? I have here a deck of cards (show card case with coin already in the case but hidden. Hold case in left hand. Show right hand empty and pull coin from slit. This is easily done by allowing the case to slowly rest against left palm pushing coin up) The coin has emerged from the deck. You don't look impressed. I'll make it more amazing. Not only does the coin come out of the deck but it can go right through the deck. Here you take the coin out." Then I go into the rest of the patter from my previous post. John

I always use the phrase; "You really don't seem very impressed" whenever I pass a card, coin, or whatever through the card case the first time as obviously...they are not, nor would I be as a spectator. I'll also totally agree that IR deserves to be stretched out as best feasible in it's presentation instead of a simple; stab/pass (whatever) through the box, dump out the block, and it's over. Come on people....pump it up and squeeze all you can get out of it! Kanawati just gave another good example of how you can make this a great effect instead of a simple quick hit bar trick "puzzle" which IR is obviously not.

For Sale - Matchbox Penetration.
I have 11 or 12 really crappy units. The quality control on these was obviously nonexistant. I will keep the one I have that actually works the way it should. Just think, I could have probably bought a few Industrial Revelations for the money I spent on these lousy Matchbox Penetrations that were obviously poorly made. (MM is the brand) I would then have had multiple props that worked flawlessly. Oh well,IR wasn't available back then. PM if interested! Sammy

Hi all, just a quick follow up on recent discussions re possible carriers, “Pro Carrier”, “JOL” and various phone pouches etc etc.
I took my JOL to my local shoe repairer and had him stitch the shorter tab so that it doesn’t swing so freely (with the weight). Seems to work a treat and I haven’t had any issues with the popper coming undone. Some pics below.

BRAND NEW REVIEW, from a PARANOID HOBBYIST:::::::::::::::::::::
40 pages? So many amazing reviews? Why should I even bother to comment on this product? …Because I FEEL I MUST. If my few words even persuades just one person to buy this product then I’ll be happy, and their arsenal will change forever. I’ve spent over £1000 on magic tricks over the last 2.5 years, but this is my best buy. So many broken promises from manufacturers, dodgy demos, poorly made gimmicks, unadvertised tricky sleights to learn, HOURS OF PRACTICE. All this goes out the window with IR. It’s exactly what I, as a hobbyist who doesn’t really spend hours practicing card sleights, is looking for. This is a trick I can carry with me, just approach a GROUP OF GIRLS and SAY ‘WATCH THIS’ and have them gripped from the start. It’s such a quick and amazing trick they won’t even QUESTION why I’ve approached them in the first place. What I’m trying to say, is this is a one off ‘block’buster – literally. I could spend hours telling you how good this is, how true it works and how absolutely clean it is… but you’ll already know from what the others have been saying. I got mine today, and it’s the happiest I can remember being with a magic trick I’ve purchased. The presentation from Jamie, the packaging, details, graphics, mood he creates, feel and tonality equal the effect. Every magic trick should be presented like this – GET IT NOW AS A CHRISTMAS PRESENT. I just LOVE THE FACT it weighs a tonne! Just handing the box to someone to hold will get a reaction! Jamie is a good guy. Only communicated with him via email, but I can tell how much my words mean to him, how much passion he has for this product – his baby – and how much he cares for his customers. This guy is a legend. I wanna wrap off my review by talking through the doubts I had, and reach people who had the same preconceptions as me: 1) Close to £100, it’s expensive. NO – IT’S BARGAINOUS! When you think the average packet trick is 30 quid, this is 90 – and it’s more than THREE TIMES as good as most. 100 pound is nothing in the grand scheme of things. Trust me. 2) Oh god I have to order from America!!! I was initially put off by the idea of getting it all the way from Canada… you know… could I even be bothered? BUT it’s really not a problem, at all. Jamie makes the process so simple, took less than a week to make it, and less than a week to send it all the way to England for me. Less than 2 weeks and I’ve got the best trick ever. I EVEN EVADED A CUSTOMS CHARGE HAHA. 3) Can this really be as good as they say? Better. The METHOD is INVISIBLE. I can’t believe how invisible it is. I had my dad staring at the thing for half an hour, sat there trying to poke a coin through like a lemon. LOL. My advice to you all… is… if you’re sat here reading this, on page 40 – YOU’RE AN IDIOT! WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?? GO BUY IT and support Jamie’s work!! Walkalong tricks DON’T GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS. THANKS JAMIE MARK FROM ENGLAND |

This does look good. Is it possible to show the block first, put it in the card box and do the penetration and then take it back out for examination?
Thanks, Taj |

Nothing wrong with puzzles; I collect puzzles, riddles, optical illusions, etc. But IR is too good of a magic trick to reduce to a puzzle, IMHO. Plus, one of the strengths of IR is the total and utter shock of dumping out a HEAVY block of metal. I equate this to Malini's block of ice from a hat. It wouldn't be much of a surprise if Malini would have shown folks the block of ice earlier in the evening before producing it from his hat. Respectfully, MJ |
