Well time has passed by and I've had a fairly busy December gigging. I have to confess, because of the weight etc. my IR has not been out with me on every occassion.
About two months ago, I did a job (reception function) and did IR as well as several other effects. I was booked to do a house party today (my last before Christmas), part 'Parlour' show, part close up. After the stand up bit, just as I was going to start the close up, the gentleman who booked me came over and asked if I had that trick with the steel block. Lucky for me, I did (and it got great reactions). Jamie, I promise not to be (as) lazy! It just goes to show that IR really is a memorable effect (and I still have not had any problem with being busted). Happy Christmas to all Charlie |

Is this something that you can briefly let them handle? Maybe drop it from the card box into their hands?

That`s exactly how I performed this last night, slayed people, brilliant reactions.
As for the weight/carrying issues, I just pop this in my back pants pocket, and don`t have any issues. Looking at trying to source plastic card cases, to avoid the obvious case wear. Slightly restricted with this, re-setting, but only slightly, but well impressed. Keith. [/quote]

I haven't picked this up yet, but I know I really need too. Should make a nice Christmas present to my self.

I did IR at a party on Saturday and as usual it really hit hard... I agree with Gaffed that letting them take and handle the steel block is 99% of the fun factor. I let them take it out of the box after dropping into their hands.
I still carry mine in my Joshua Jay Pro carrier and it is swell

Hey Jamie, any estimate on how many pounds of steel you've sold?!

I'm not sure if this would work or if it should be done, but has anyone else thought about using Empty by Marcus Eddie along with Industrial Revelation? Penetrate the box, then show that it's easy because it's empty, then materialize a solid block of steel inside the box.

Or, produce the block first, Then while they examine it, show the EMPTY card box and produce the cards.
I don't have Empty yet , so a box switch might be required. Empty is not examinable as I understand so this may be difficult to pull off.

Good idea but you need to switch, and I have no idea how you're gonna do the misdirection here so you can switch clean.

In my opinion - as an owner of the trick and a very frequent performer of it.... I don't think combining another trick with Industrial Revelation is a particularly good idea. The impact do the hunk of metal MUST be directly and quickly after the coin penetrates - with no handling or funny moves of any kind. The "heat" has to stay on the deck so there can be NO suggestion that the deck was switched.
That being said - the intense scrutiny that the block of steel gets after THEY take it out of the box affords you the ample opportunity to load something else in the box. I suggest something other than a deck of cards or a card trick - but some suitable sized item that will be the next trick you will do. The added surprise of something else impossible coming out of the box will be a bonus magical happening! |

I don't own Empty, but I have my own idea of how it works. My idea would work perfectly without any switches. I wish I could share my idea, but I'm afraid because who knows how similar it is to Empty's workings. Whoever owns Empty, could you please shoot me a PM and I'll share my idea with you and see if it's similar. I'm not interested in knowing how Empty is done, I would just like to share my idea with someone who already knows how Empty is done and see if they're too similar for me to share my idea publicly.
