So, after reading ALL 67 pages of this thread, I purchased IR. I placed my order about a week ago and I am eagerly awaiting its arrival! This is going to be a killer addition to my act. I first saw it on youtube thanks to Eric Leclerc. I can't wait to play with it!

Have to try this - I really like it as an alternative especially for a party or strolling. C'est bien.

Hiya Gang!
I really believe in trying to up the ante in customer service and, a while ago, I had some VIP routines that I was giving out to members here on the Café. Then I thought I'd try and get them to every single person, but I'm still trying to complile the e-mail list which is fairly epic, lol. So, in the meantime, I think I'll just post them here! Have fun with them! And thanks to all my pals for providing them! 5 ROUTINES FOR YOUR INDUSTRIAL REVELATION Gegory Wilson ~Rich Bloch ~Paul Green ~David Regal ~Andy Nyman Hiya Gang! I am a huge believer in building relationships as I really try to view art as more than a product. As an owner of IR, you just didn't buy a sandwich or something, but something that I've created with my own hands (I guess sandwiches are made by hand, as well, but that's not the point, lol). You've placed a trust in me that I'm going to provide you with something that you'll be able to take out into the world and Send Wonder. There's a relationship there, and I'm so thankful that you chose me to be a part of that. So, as a way of showing thanks, I've got some presentations here from FIVE greats of magic- Gregory Wilson, Rich Bloch, Paul Green, David Regal, and Andy Nyman! If I get any more, I'll fire them your way, free of charge. After all, that's what being a VIP is all about. Getting free stuff (lol) and being reminded that you're absolutely, 100%, unequivocallyimportant. Don't ever forget that. You didn't just buy a magic trick- you helped support someone's family and have also made a decision to bring people joy through the gifts of your talent. That needs to be rewarded! Hurrah! Send Wonder and Stay Awesome, jamie _____________________________________________________ Gregory Wilson This presentation motivates why and how you're pushing a quarter through a pack of playing cards. Getting in touch with your inner-MacGyver, you explain that a quarter has serrated edges like a knife. So, if you slice it back and forth long enough you can cut through almost anything. Hold the box in your left hand, with the flap upwards, taking care to hide both slits before you cut. Take the quarter with your right hand and start making slicing motions on the slit facing you. As you start making progress, lower the box to show a partial penetration. Release the coin for a moment to let them appreciate what you've done so far. Continue as before with the box in parallel position so they can see the quarter slicing its way out of sight. Slowly turn over the box end for end to show it protruding from the other side. Remove it as you say, "Going through the box is one thing, but going through the entire deck is another. However, that's not the amazing part. It's not a deck of cards, it's a solid block of steel! . . . All I need now is a wall safe." MacGyver would be proud. And if they think that's amazing, explain, "You should see what I can do with a toothpick, a paper clip and a rubber band!" _________________________________________________________________________ RICH BLOCH Begin your close up act with a duplicate deck and card case that has a black hole with an obvious slit in it. You can patter about the black holes in space, but don't dwell on it; tell them you'll speak more about this later. After you've finished your normal card routines, re-case the cards and put them away, pulling out the I.R. deck with a black hole and slit as an "afterthought (switch the decks) and mentioning that you remembered you hadn't finished relating your thoughts on the black hole. Borrow a quarter to demonstrate how the molecules rearrange themselves in the black holes (or some such crap) as you do the penetration. (I would stay clear of the knife, since it suggests you are creating a slot, then hiding it, rather than causing a miraculous penetration.) As you hand them the quarter, after the penetration, tell them to examine it and they'll see how the quarter has been modified through the powers of quantum physics. Use this moment to squeeze the block. When they tell you there's nothing wrong with the quarter, then exclaim that it must be the deck that was modified. In fact, you say, you can sense a powerful magnetic force emanating from it. They will be stunned as they lift the case - it does feel like there's a force under it holding it back. Nod your head knowingly - "Yes, that's what happened - check out the deck and if you have a sharp eye and look very closely, you'll be able find it's not precisely in the same shape it started." Now, you're done! _________________________________________________________________________ PAUL GREEN IR has taken a special place in my repertoire--I use it in very selected situations. It has become a central showpiece for me when I have to close a deal with a client. I speak of the "solid commitment and relationship" that I am building. With that kind of support, we can accomplish almost anything. The quarter becomes the investment of capital into the business. The card box is my contribution. When the coin goes through the slot, while it seems easy, it really shows that by working together, we can do the impossible! _________________________________________________________________________ DAVID REGAL My grandfather was a magician, so he made a little savings bank out of a card box! He used to show it to me when I was little, and I never understood it. He left it to me, and this is it right here. He’d say ‘Every time you drop a coin into the bank, you’re building a pile of silver.’ So he’d take a coin and drop it in the slot… but he had a slot on the other side, too, so the coin went right through, fell on the floor, and rolled into the fireplace [place a coin through the box, take it out and mime tossing it away]. Every time I saw him, he’d do the same thing, put a coin in his ‘bank’ to ‘save up his silver,’ but it would fall out the other side and roll into the fireplace [repeat the action a second time with the same coin]. I have to admit, I thought maybe the old guy was going a little soft in the head, because to me, it didn’t look like he was saving anything [repeat the actions a third time as you speak, then pocket the coin]. I should have trusted my grandpa, though, because he was right – it’s a great way to end up with a lot of silver [dump the silver block out of the box]. _________________________________________________________________________ A Lesson in Critical Thinking Andy Nyman’s presentation for Industrial Revelation. You remove a black cardboard box & open it to reveal a Bicycle Card box. You take the card box out of the black box and stand it on its end (with the half moon at the top). Do you know how many cards there are in a full deck? (an answer is given) That’s right 52 cards. What are cards made of? (an answer is given). Correct, card obviously. Compacted paper. Those 52 compacted pieces of paper form a fairly solid block. Now let me show you something extraordinary. You take a coin and push it straight through the slot in the box. Believe me that is amazing. It’s important you realize that coin is actually going through the box, this is not an optical illusion. You push the coin though the box with ease a few more times. As you do you say the following... You sir, seem very impressed, but sadly the rest of you seem a little more cynical, you are not too impressed. You are correctly using critical thinking, so let me just address some of those thoughts. 1) Maybe there’s a whole cut in the deck? It’s a great thought, but think it through, if there was, when I empty out the box in a moment you would see the whole and all the mystery would vanish? You push the coin though the box 2) Maybe the cards slide out of the way when the coin goes through? It’s another great thought. But take a good look, the coin is going through (you match the action to the words) and the cards have nowhere to go. They cannot move anywhere. You push the coin though the box one final time 3) Maybe it’s a special coin? You’re on fire! That would be yet another great solution...but it’s just a regular coin. The best way to tell it’s real is to listen to it. (You drop the coin on the table, as it clatters you push the gimmick together. The coin dropping covers and ‘talking). 4) And finally, and I can see a few of you beginning to think this, what if the deck of cards isn’t even in the box. Aha! Now we’re getting somewhere, because think this through, pushing a solid coin through 52 dense, compacted pieces of paper is pretty impossible. I say ‘pretty impossible’ because maybe just maybe the cards can bend and give in some way, after all they’re only paper. But if pushing a coin through a deck of cards is pretty impossible, this....(lifting the box up and rotating it so the heavy gimmick falls onto the table)...is truly IMPOSSIBLE. The End. Thanks for reading, gang!

Thanks Jamie!
Nice contributions, although many of these from these talented performers are offshoots of what many of us came up with some time ago. Much appreciated. Nice to know working pros are using this and having fun like the rest of us.

I have to tell a story about Jamie Grant and Industrial Revelation. I ordered this several weeks ago (a little late to the party) and when it arrived I felt the gimmick was a little too loose so I attempted to adjust it as per the instructions. I can't explain exactly what I did without exposing the gimmick, but lets just say I used a screw driver to try to gently 'unstick' something and in the process ruined my Industrial Revelation! My heart just sunk. I contacted Jamie to see if there was anyway to possibly repair it. Here's the unbelievable part... Jamie just replaced it! The damage was most likely my fault and he replaced it. That kind of customer service is so rare it's almost unheard of any more. Jamie, I just wanted to give you a public THANK YOU! You have a customer for life! (by the way, I have my new one and absolutely love this thing).

Hello everyone.
I've just treated myself to this incredible IR, what a fantastic piece of workmanship. I'm looking of a way to incorporate IR with a signed card effect. I just think IR is too powerful an effect to use just on it's own. Please send me a PM if you can help me structure IR with a signed card routine. Thanks very much indeed. Kind regards. Neil. |

How about you have a case with a slit in, you take the card out, let the spectator take one, signed it. THen you do whatever you want and at one point, you put the cards back in the case, except the signed one. S**** the packs, fold the signed one to make it penetrate throught the case, let them feel the weight and when they open it, the cards are now a solid metal bloc. Just messing around but this could play big I think !

My idea so far is to get the spectator to select a card, sign it and then the signed card is returned to the IR case and then to go into a knife stab routine, reveal their selected card and then produce the block as a double wammy! How does this sound? Does anyone else follow this kind of presentation? Neil. |
