Can anyone comment on how cleanly the objects vanish that are thrown in or pushed into the photo? Specifically the key and the quarter. I love the idea and premise, but I'm curious as to how clean and magical the actual vanishes and productions are.

Got mine for two days and I like this a LOT. Couldn't believe that's what it is. I was imagining high tech and complicated stuff. But it's very simple yet the magic is very powerful. The mini invisible is a worker! Can't wait to put it to work. The supplied effects are great to start with. The fun really starts when coming up with your own ideas and photos! My best purchase of the year so far.

You are really fishing for methods here. It all depends on your skill. When you do coin magic, you are dirty most of the time.
It's all about routining to take the heat off. James Quote: On 2011-07-27 22:44, greatsandini wrote:

Im actually loosing sleep waiting for this, I'm that excited about it. Seeing all these great posts is really frustrating lol. However I did win the effect on the Facebook competition so I'm eternally thankful to will and sans minds for the free copy. This will definately be finding its way to the start of my protons routine by Chris priest. For anyone looking for some more ideas, there were tons of suggestions on the sans minds facebook wall. Some really inventive ideas.

While I appreciate what you're saying, Xiqual, I'm not just fishing for methods. Yes, in coin work you're dirty quite a bit and level of skill is important, but some methods are cleaner and more magical than others, and, unfortunately, not all demo videos give a clear idea of what the effect looks like in real time. Routining can only go so far. I'm actually just interested in knowing if it looks as good in real life as it does on video, but no one has answered that question yet.

I just ordered one too.
It seems like it could enhance some mentalism effects-- force one of 3 objects in the picture and pull their thought of object out. Are there any existing mentalism effects that come to mind? Another thought would be to combine it with Dick Barry's goldfish production. Is the one in the bottle any more hunane to the fish than the champagne glass? The latter seems more elegant. Frank |

Well lesson learned: you apparently can't do this with mentalism .

I'll bet it indeed was stored in a hot place at the supply company. The routines look to be relatively easy to do, though, and the effects are pretty cool. Tossing the key onto the card is probably going to take the most practice, but it's very clean looking and will be worth working on. In answer to a previous question, most of the effects will leave you clean at the end. However, even if you're needing to ditch an item, I suspect all the attention will be on the photo, giving you ample misdirection to do so. I'll probably be taking some of my own pictures, too. A goldfish production doesn't seem like it'd be too hard. - Frank |

I had a little ink stuck to the gimmick too. Wipe with nail polish remover. Takes two seconds to clean it up with no effort!

Mine too. I had to pull the photo out and kill the photo. I tried to wipe the ink off with warm water at first but nothing came off. With nail polish remover, the ink came off with one or two wipes. I emailed the producer's website and explained the photo is unusable, they sent me the image file so I can print on my own. This is good customer service!
Saw the butterfly one on youtube looks fantastic. Anyone seen it yet? -Aaron |

Review:
My gimmick arrived just fine, so there must be some variance. I ordered the Deluxe Package Limited Edition from Penguin. Effect is great. When I first opened the package I had a "huh?" moment and was a little disappointed, but the DVD is the convincer. Don't judge until you watch the DVD. The magic will look like it does in the trailer, even the part where the coin visibly dissolves into the photo. For that effect you'll need to arts-and-crafts some things together which you probably already have around the house or can get for just a couple bucks. You can immediately give the photo to your spectator. It is normal and not gimmicked in any way. As others have said, PhotoShop is really just a jumping-off point. You can make and use your own photos, and a crafty person could make additional gimmicks, too. Spoiler: This effect is not a genuine holographic revolving-load invisible self-healing trap-door portable hole hypnotizing transducer array. It's a trick that requires the usual magician-y things like misdirection and slight of hand. But, it's not difficult. This won't make a great first trick for a budding magician (haha, "budding magician" sounds like a Robert-Houdin automaton!), but is suitable for anyone with elementary sleight-of-hand skills. The DVD assumes a working knowledge of basic sleights. And, the more advanced you are, the more your head is going to reel at all the possibilities. Will Tsai does an excellent job of explaining the overall idea and underlying principles of PhotoShop. Then, he details the primary Kiss effect. Not too much information, not too little. As I mentioned, he assumes a working knowledge of basic magician skills. For other effects, such as a the folded Ambitious Card from photo, he only explains the general concepts - really, nothing else is needed, is it? Size of object: Well, smaller is easier; a Hershey's Kiss, a coin, a key - quite easy. An origami dollar bill rhinoceros, a little more difficult. On the other hand, if you can currently do a bare-handed beer bottle production, well, I bet you could figure out a way to incorporate that into PhotoShop, too. Show someone a photo of a bottle cap against a black background. Then, pull out a nice cold beer! Okay, that's going to be really advanced, and few people will have those skills. But, hopefully, you get my point. Will it really look like you're removing or putting something in to a photo?: To your audience, YES! They will remember it exactly as that. I have no doubts. To a camera...that depends. Think along the lines of "David Blaine top change." His audience about Pees their pants, but ya gotta be careful about what gets recorded...or edited, as the case may be. Nope, this isn't a Tenyo trick. Sorry! Note: I love Tenyo tricks. To amuse myself, and to appreciate the genius behind them. But for an audience? Um, no. OK, that's it for now. Gotta play, practice, invent, and take pictures for PhotoShop effects. AlmostAD |

Uh-oh, better head everyone off at the pass: No David Blaine top changes are used or abused during the performance of PhotoShop. Just sayin'.
