Frankly I'm stunned that this post has run to 20 replies before someone from Blightly stepped in. In the UK and probably a few of the other colonies, 'FANNY' is a very common slang word for a lady's nether regions!! It is also used in a derogatory fashion to describe someone who is weak. As in "Stop being a fanny!" Just thought I'd offer this small enlightenment to my American (North and South) brethren. We call them 'bum bags' and also in a derogatory fashion. "You do realise that you are wearing a bum bag, you fanny!!"
As to the topic itself. No. Never. Well for most people anyway. European tourists seem to have a penchant for them. If you are trying to bring back the Eighties there are much easier ways. Deck shoes, mullets, shoulder pads, rolled-up sleeves. The question posed is a valid one, I struggle with heavily-laden cargo pants, which limits my repertoire or a jacket that weighs a tonne. If you do chose to go for a bag, there are what are termed 'man bags' or record bags, that are increasing in popularity and shaking off the stigma of a 'male handbag'. As a young lad of 20, you could easily get away with this so long as you aren't wearing a dinner suit. Google 'troop london' and look up 'messenger bags' they do some nice bags of all sizes, I'm sure that you could find one to suit. |

Partially, because I'm old enough to remember all these. And then, followed by some helpful advice. Killer. Or should I say, spot on. Either way, I tip my hat to you, sir. |

I would recommend a prop holder/holster from High Caliber. You can customize it to your needs and holds a ton. It's costly but for what you get you'll be more than satisfied with this nvestment. My pockets are very empty except for jumbo coin loads and my cube for MD.

You guys simply have to look in this direction....this is about as "macho" as it gets:

"Is there any point to which you would wish to draw my attention?"
"To the curious incident of the dog in the night-time." "The dog did nothing in the night-time." "That was the curious incident," remarked Sherlock Holmes. |

Let's face it, as much as I hate to admit it, a typical magic gathering looks sort of looks like the set of "The Big Bang Theory." My magician friends are some of the best friends a person could have but come on guys let's not make that stereotype any worse. We need to go back to style and elegance, not fanny packs. I argue with my wife all the time when she jokingly calls my local IBM chapter my "nerd club." Fight the fanny pack guys, fight it!
Hearing a magician say they don’t care how it looks, they just care about function is kind of like my overweight dad saying he does not care how his short elastic shorts and tight t-shirt look because they are “comfy.”

Instead of a "fanny" why not spread things out a bit and utilize a few cell phone holsters. The flap-over may be removed for EZ'r access. Fill'm with foam to snuggle up coins, TT, etc. There are some with a pivoting belt clip, wear it upside-down and you have a customizable holdout.
How many magicians does it take to change a lightbulb? Regardless, for magicians darkness is a time for d'lite.

A "few cell phone holsters," it is all the same guys! Little man pouches = bad. A fanny pack is not good.

Cell phone holsters can be hidden a fanny pack can not.

If the fanny pack you found in Spain works well for you use it. Period. Suerte. :)

How about Jay Sankey's "Assassin's Pouch"? I wouldn't classify that as a "Fanny Pack"! It doesn't hold that much stuff, though.

To the OP: I don't see anything wrong with it. I certainly wouldn't look down on someone just for wearing one, especially a performer. I would merely think that is what they chose to carry their props in. I think if it works for you; great! I probably wouldn't wear them in certain situations; of course, like not with a tux, but it sounds like a handy, workable idea to me. In fact- I just might get one myself- it could be another great way to embarrass my kids while staying organized
And I really like the crossover leg deal from the ops place! Qué macho!
