I recently acquired a Himber coin "portfolio" with the hope of incorporating it into my Copper, Silver, Brass routine. Short of pocketing the wallet between exchanges, can anyone make any suggestions for proper handling to insure the construction of the prop isn't obvious? Perhaps I am being overly paranoid; but, since I am accustomed to performing the effect entirely from my pocket, I am somewhat concerned about reducing the impact of thee effect by adding the wallet... Any thoughts?
TIA, -Allen M. |

Might be worth noting that I have used the wallet simply for coin storage, then, returned it to the pocket as a "pocket management" tool during the traditionally styled routine...
Side note concerning CSB routines... I like Doc Eason's "Three Coin Trick" routine; but, have been hesitant to do it because I don't like displaying the "extra coins" as he does... Clearly, it works well for him and doesn't seem to lessen the impact; but, I am not sure it's for me... Thoughts on this are welcome as well... -A |

As long as the Himber has thick enough leather to not show the coins inside, you can just lay the wallet/purse down on the table out of the way. As long as you don’t focus your attention on it no one else should either. Where you need to practice is handling the Himber and switching sides without drawing attention to it.
I use the Himber from http://www.theambitiouscard.com and have not had any problems with it. Jim |

Thanks Jim,
I have the same Himber "portfolio" and, as you surmised, my concern was for the switching of sides during the routine. I am probably making an issue out of something that should not be a big deal... It's just that I would go to the wallet several times in the course of the routine and it was the repeated action that caused me concern... -A |

Allen, I use Scott Guinn's Pouched CSB which doesn’t use a Himber but it works just as well - even better IMO. In that routine I believe I only touch the purse four times including the opening removal of the coins for the routine. It is included in Scott's ebook "My Best to You, Vol. 2 - Coins". Should be available at http://www.lybrary.com

BTW, practice switching the purse's sides while picking up the coin(s) you are going to place into the purse, talking to your spectators, or saying something funny since people have a tough time burning your hands when laughing! Heck, you can be doing all three of those things while picking up the purse! Also practice switching sides with one hand keeping the purse mostly hidden by your palm.

So, does anyone know where you can get a small Himber type switch coin purse? Maybe 2" x 2" or slightly larger?
I just bought Todd Lassen's latest quarter size CSB set and I need a small switch purse. Robert |

This is a very nice Himber Coin Portfolio. You can even buy a matching regular one.

Tony Miller has a great little wallet called the Mobius you might take a look at.

Agreed - Tony's Möbius wallet fits the bill exactly for what Robert M. is asking.

Mobius, is great . I would recommend you check into Luis Piedrahita's csb work, he uses a purse at touches initially and twice more.

By the way, no switch purse!

With regard to a switch purse, The Ambitious Card's Himber purse does have a matching, non-gaffed purse that you can purchase. It's definitely not necessary but it can be used to make the routine even more deceptive. If you switch purses at the end, you can put the real coins into the non-gaffed purse and toss it onto the table so the overly curious can examine purse and coins.
I often will toss it on the table and leave the room for a short time. That way the curious and bold can check out the purse and coins and find nothing amiss. Jim |
