One part of my job entails giving out new passwords to users over the phone, to make sure there's no communication breakdown the standard A as in Alpha, B as in Bravo...is done. I thought it would be funny to give words that had silent leading letters (in theory, I don't think it would endear me too well with upper management in practice).
Here's what I've assembled so far: Quote:
A as in Aisle Can anyone add to this? |

I don't know any words that have a silent f at the start, but halfpenny has one in the middle.
J as in Juan. Not a word, but a name. Probably got to be some other Spanish words or something. Tired. That's not one of the words, it's just a statement.

Make America Great Again! - Trump in 2020 ... "We're a capitalistic society. I go into business, I don't make it, I go bankrupt. They're not going to bail me out. I've been on welfare and food stamps. Did anyone help me? No." - Craig T. Nelson, actor.

How about:
W as in Wrap Not many as the word has to sound the same with the first letter missing.

For I go the Latin route. In Latin the letter I is pronounced like e. A good word would be Ius (eoose) it means law or soup.
Peace

I really like "B as in bdellium," it creates the sort of problem using words is supposed to prevent.

L in almond.
The I in family, unless you're singing the song, "we are family, I got all my sisters and me...", which you probably shouldn't be singing. The ing in gonna. I can keep going, but I'm not sure I'm keeping within the spirit of the original post. |
