Does anyone know if Peter White of P&A Silks has given production rights to some of his silk designs to Duane Laflin. I see on Laflin's web site that he is selling the clown silk and the caterpillar silk that I designed (along with many others) for Pete in the 70's and Duane's web site is claiming that they are his original designs (copy- "features graphics designed by master silk magician Duane Laflin"). I have no financial interest in any of this, just curious.

Also Peter has not updated is site since 2009. I hope he is well.

To my knowledge, Peter response best to telephone calls.

I have know idea if the patterns were copied. There is so much that can be changed to work around any legal requirements, if any, that it is best to just live with it.

The best part is if someone wants silks that will last hundreds of show, compared to silks that will last 1 or 2 shows is the best rule to go buy.

This is a sticky subject. Duane has shown me the papers where he bought the rights to the P&A silks. I think this was all about the time Peter was going through a divorce. Peter is still bitter about it all.

I try to stay friends with both of them, as they are. Peter calls me once or twice a year and we catch up.

I didn't mean to imply that anything improper was going on. Duane has a solid reputation and I am sure he is an honest person. I was just curious why he would claim to have done the graphics on designs that he purchased the rights to use. Do you know if he has the rights to use all of P&A's designs or just a select number?

I wish them both the best. Pete was a close friend until I moved to Florida in 1994 and we lost touch with one another. He worked very hard to produce high quality products that would last for years.

Just a small correction. That online store is NOT run by Duane Laflin. That's run by someone else. (I don't really think they claim to be Duane Laflin either. They sell other products as well as some of the Laflin products.)

Duane ran an online store for a few years (different web address), and then Duane's daughter Rebecca ran an online store for a few years (different web address).
